Considering Manny's eye injury and Kesler's injuries

Why didn't Gillis push harder to acquire a center? If he didn't want to deal his goalies for a center, he could have at least pursued a FA or traded for one? He acknowledged that the team put a 10 game test run on Malhotra, but did it ever occur to him that there was a good chance that Malhotra's injury would end his season? Or did he assume Malhotra would stay healthy enough all season? Just doesn't make sense.

Poor planning on Gillis' part. He must've known that with Kesler coming back there was no guarantee he'd remain healthy, and worse, he would've known Manny only had 10-games to demonstrate he could play. I think Gillis is a little delusional, thinking the team would be just as good with Ebbett and Schroeder at centre, Raymond and Higgins could fill in if possible. That hasn't worked out well.

If heads do roll at the end of the season, his should be first.

I don't know what Gillis thinks about anything anymore.
