To Be Continued...
I like having Star at #10, but I find your lack of Dion Jordan disturbing. Good overall though.
With the signing of Hill it kind of kills my thought of taking Lotulelei in the first. I think that we will snag a DE in the first unless they just want to create a monster OL and still take Warmack or Cooper.
I am starting to agree. I don't mind Star by any means, but I feel like the team might be looking in the Dion Jordan, Mingo category. Also I could see us reaching for Vaccaro, werner, or Trufant.
I may catch some grief for the following statement but I wouldn't be against them going after a WR in the first or second. Can't honestly say that with "Glass Joe" as our #1 it wouldn't be beneficial to grab somebody to fill that role.
I am not totally against a WR either, but not in round 1. #10 should be defense (pick a DT, DE, CB, or S). Then in the second round I could see something like Justin Hunter or Robert Woods. The question is would you rather have a luxury like WR depth or a more stable secondary/o-line/d-line/lineback
r?
I still prefer defense in 1 and 2.
OG and WR in 3rd.
Def in 4th
TE or S in 5th and 6th
BPA in 7
My Ideal Mock:
#10 Dion Jordan DE
#40 Jonathan Banks CB
#70 Barrett Jones C/G
#97 Ryan Swope WR
#107 Shamarko Thomas S
#142 Levine Toilolo TE
#202 A.J Klein MLB
#216 Dequinta Jones DT
#248 Denard Robinson Specialist

I personally believe it would be best to trade this pick and pick a couple more picks
I completely agree, trading down would be the best case scenerio for us this season. This is one of the weakest drafts in recent memory so why not trade down and still acquire good football players. Despite this being a weak draft, teams will still look to trade up. Particularly teams like New Orleans who is completely overhauling their defense. It's very possible Jarvis Jones falls to us, only if the jets pass, and the Saints would rush to their phones to acquire our pick. The Rams and vikings are both other options to trade back.
Just for conversation, let's imagine St. Louis moves up to #10 in exchange for #16 and a 3rd round pick.
Lets also imagine the ravens panic during the draft and reach for Ray Lewis's replacement and want Ogletree. Perhaps they send #32 and a 2nd round pick in exchange for #16?
#32 Jonathan Banks, CB, Miss State.
Obviously not exactly a sexy 1st round for us but we are able to maneuver around and still land a quality player. Banks possesses outstanding length and size at 6'2'' 185lbs. Banks is above average at supporting the run, good ball skills and is more than capable of defending the bigger more physical receivers. As a rookie, Banks could provide us with quality depth and insurance if Verner doesnt return. Banks could potentially start on the outside for us, allowing us to bump ATV into the slot.
2nd Round Matt Elam, S, FLA
To state it bluntly, Elam is a play making safety but is still a bit raw. With Elam, we could groom him this season and allow him to focus on special teams and adapting to the NFL. Elam could provide Williams/Gray with an athlete who could open up things on defense, due to the poor lack of a quality safety in our secondary.
Trading back would be nice and make the most sense. With all the free agent moves this offseason they should focus more on depth. Banks or another safety would be nice in the first round if we were able to trade back but I am with boy coy in getting Hunt from SMU if he is still available in the second. He could turn out to be a freak and I think the titans are in a spot were they could go after a project with huge upside. The mismatches he could create with the size and speed as a rotational DE would be a thing the team has lacked and would help out tremendously.
Psalms 118:6 - The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
Selecting those two with our first two picks would be the cherry on top of an outstanding offseason for us. Defensively we would have Hill, Klug, Casey, Martin, Star, Wimbley, Morgan and Hunt along the line, all as part of a defensive rotation. I absolutely love the Titans attitude this season along the line, get bigger and stronger. While our lack of depth at DE does worry me, I could see a few snaps a game with Klug, Hill, Star and Casey as our front four. As long as we can keep these boys fresh, I could see a vastly improved line. The versitility that lineman like Star, Hunt, Klugg and Casey provide us could really open up wrinkles in our defense and allow us to keep our lineman fresh but never experience a drop off in talent. Personally, I believe you can never have too many quality defensive lineman.
As far as the back half of our defense, I have been a believer in our starters. I love the pass rushing abilities of Brown and Ayers and belief if McCarthy can stay healthy, we could have argueably the best trio of young linebackers in the league. Due to their ability to rush the passer, I wouldnt mind seeing a package with Klugg, Star, Hill, Hunt on our line with Wimbley, Ayers and Brown in the LB group. Could really upgrade our pass rush running that caliber of package 3-4 times a game, all the while protecting McCarthy also.
Normally I would agree with trading back, but unless they're getting a relatively high first AND a second rounder, I'm not that crazy about it. There is just way too much talent at the top of this draft board on the offensive and defensive lines for the Titans to pass on that and move back. Lotuleili, Jordan, Mingo, Warmack, Cooper, Ansah, Jones etc. won't be around at 20, and those are the types of guys the Titans should be targeting. And, obviously, if they are insanely high on Dee Millner and he falls to 10, then he's a guy you consider as well.
But with this pick, the Titans have an opportunity to add a franchise player to build their lines around, and I would rather they pick the BPA at 10 then move back to add depth later in the draft.
Also, as far as taking a DE in the early second, I'd much rather have a barely 22-year-old Alex Okafor than a nearly 26-year-old Margus Hunt, but maybe that's just me. Also, Okafor has been going up against top tier o-lines his entire college career compared to Hunt, to only picked up the sport a few years ago and played against mediocre competition in Conference USA.
