Two-down run-stopper. Turns 26 next month RT @VicTafur #Raiders signed free agent DT Vance Walker

Sounds like he would be a nice addition as a run stopping DT. He is young only 26 next month.

Reggie is really adding a lot of players to the front 7 this offseason.

7th round pick by the falcons, only half a sack. More of a run stopping guy and seems more like a 4-3 player

Had new #Raiders DT Vance Walker ranked 49th among NFL's Best 50 Free Agents left entering today. Link to article: http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nf...t-50-left?pg=1

Here is what Evan Silva had to say: "49. Defensive tackle Vance Walker -- Walker is a 26-year-old 4-3 defensive tackle who stuffs the run and has five sacks the past two seasons. He'd be a nice No. 3 tackle somewhere"

He is listed at 6'2'' 304lbs. He had 32 tackles and 3 sacks in 2012 in 16 games with 9 starts. In 2011, he 18 tackles and 2 sacks in 16 games with no starts. He started a game apiece in 2010 and 2009.

He also started both playoff games this season, posting 6 tackles and a sack.

Depth move here...rotational player on run downs. Probably be 3rd or 4th on the DT depth chart when all is said & done.

Reggie's talked about it at the beginning. Depth, depth, & more depth.

You guys keep talking about "signing for depth," but that doesn't make any sense. You have to have starters to sign depth. As of right now, this guy is penciled into the starting lineup as soon as Tommy Kelly gets cut, and it's really not even close.

Agreed a 26 year old dt who has performed well in his limited time...sounds like a solid starter for me

It's called competition. You draft Floyd, keep Kelly, Walker & Sims could easily be your 3rd & 4th DT's. Its an open competition.

May the best man win. They'll all get their shot to prove their worth, & all might even have a defined role.

Take Walker for instance . He played all over that line last year. Inside on the 4/3 looks, & played DE when going to the 3 man front.

Like the boys want, multiple looks are coming their way. Raiders will play it all next year & depth is needed, no matter who starts, etc.

This guy is worlds ahead of Bilukidi who is really the only reserve DT we have at this point. Don't be surprised to see Sims and Walker manning the middle on opening Sunday.
