    Howe: Lloyd to be released

The Patriots will release Brandon Lloyd, according to a source.
-Howe. This is his answer to all of the talk surrounding him.

The move will clear $2.5 mil in cap space.

So, the Sanders deal seems even more likely to get done today...

    Loyko is definitely right:

It's probably no coincidence that Brandon Lloyd can't stay in the same spot for more than 2 seasons.. I had no problems with his play

If so, I'd still like to see them flip Mallett for a 3rd rounder to off set a Sanders signing.

Patriots WR Brandon Lloyd will be released, but he could return. Maybe even quickly. Can't see how there's any market for him

    Howe: Lloyd to be released

Would have been nice to cash out on Lloyd. But as long as we put the money to good use I'm ok with the move.

If the great greaseball was still running the Raiders, he'd be a perfect fit.

Amendola/Sanders costs less than Welker/Lloyd, would be far more versatile, and offer far greater speed at the position. I might give hands/toughness to Welker/Lloyd at the moment, but not by much.
