Will at 2012 Draft Pick Start at OLB?

There seems to be little to no talk about our apparent hole at OLB. It does not seem to be a priority to resign Justin Durant and I would really like to see us draft anybody other than Jarvis Jones with the fifth pick (we have enough players on IR every season). Does anyone think that we may see a bit of a LB by committee thing going with R. Lewis, Whitehead and T. Lewis next year. We can't win if our recent draft picks don't step it up.

i would like to get JD back and sign drummeveil and then draft ether ziggy or a OT

adding quinn drumevile ziggey would drastically improve this D.. right now as it stands i think we are drastically behind last year.. yes we got a bad *** S tandem but nothing at LB or DE it wont matter

My guess is we can't sign Durant without releasing a player as we gotta be to our cap number by now. The Giants had Durant in for a visit yesterday so i'm sure DET isn't going to get into a bidding war with anyone.

I think they will pick up a LB somewhere. You can always grab decent LBs in the mid-rounds of the draft. I would rather see a solid DE picked up. I wonder if John Abraham would take a 2-year deal worth about 7M? Avril only got 7.5M/season and Mike Bennett got 5M......3.5M might get that done.

I would like to see that happen, with either Scheffler or Mike Thomas released to pick up cap space. Our secondary is looking better by the day, but if we leave our pass rush too weak, it would put us kinda in the same position on defense, just reversed from last season

Why haven't we released Thomas yet to free cap space? Only thing I can see is to keep him for KR/PR, but with CJ, Burleson, Broyles, and then we are all talking about drafting/signing another WR so it doesn't make any sense to me.

I really liked Durrant, I'm surprised given the decent year he had last year that he has not offered a contract. Their numbers must be considerably off. Hopefully the fact that he hasn't had many suitors will allow for us to come in and give him an average contract. Something two years worth for him earning a bigger contract next time. Much like Delmas. If not I cannot think of any outside linebackers Who would be much better than Durrant, and come cheap.

After looking at the remaining LB's, there really isn't anybody on that list that I would even want, and none would come for cheap.

b/c we just traded a 5th for him... be assinine to cut him he is only like 1.5 mill.. wont find a num 3 or even 4 for that much

Im excited to see how Whitehead and Lewis look their sophomore year in the league and I think they were drafted with this year in mind I say we go Miliner or DE with the 1st pick

I hope not, the only thing ive ever seen Whitehead do is tweet and we havent even seen anyone else play.. Pray we bring Durant back at this point..

If Whitehead was any good, I'm sure he would've taken the field last year. Imo Whitehead had to be a disagreement Between coaching and the front office ... we gave up a pick to get him, and he did not play.
Unless Whitehead is some sort of secret weapon that we are waiting to unleash at the right time.

1.5M cap hit for a potential #4 WR and KR/PR is pretty good value. Even if you cut him, an adequate replacement will cost just as much, so really no point to do it yet. Give him an offseason to get more chemistry with Stafford.

Scheffler at 3M seems to be more of an option for a cut imo


But really all we need is for Staffords deal to be extended and that cap open up 8-10 more million.

He played 14 games and had 2 FF on ST and some nice tackles. He got playing time.

One of Palmer/Whitehead/T. Lewis will emerge as a starter, but i'm sure they'll sign another vet/draft another player to add to it. Don't think they'll spend for Durant who probably wants the 3M-4M a year that Levy got.

When we knew our season was in the tank & we knew we weren't going to resign durant we should have given the starts to whitehead or Palmer.
