Another free-agent jolt: Rams free-agent RB Steven Jackson has reached agreement with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have agreed to terms with running back Steven Jackson on a three-year contract. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Jackson, 6-2, 240 pounds, was originally selected by the St. Louis Rams in the first round (24th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft. He rushed for 1,042 yards with four touchdowns in 2012, giving him eight straight seasons with more than 1,000 rushing yards.

A two-time All-Pro selection, Jackson is the NFL’s leading rusher among active players with 10,135 yards. He is the only active player with more than 10,000 career yards and just the 27th player in NFL history to achieve that milestone. Entering his 10th NFL season, Jackson earned Pro Bowl selections in 2007, 2010 and 2011 and his streak of eight straight 1,000-yard seasons is the longest active streak in the League. He broke RB Eric Dickerson’s Rams franchise record for career rushing yards (7,245) in 2010 and his 56 career rushing touchdowns ranked tied for second in club history with Dickerson.

Since becoming a full-time starter with the Rams in 2005, Jackson has also registered 388 receptions for 3,135 receiving yards (8.1-yard average). During that time, Jackson leads all NFL running backs in receptions and receiving yards. Additionally, Jackson is one of just 14 running backs in NFL history to total 10,000 rushing yards and 3,000 receiving yards.

Draft an RB and TE in the middle rounds and focus on defense otherwise.

The comp pics really look nice now.

I'm happy we've solidified our backfield, now it's time to get to work on the defense.

Now re-sign Brent and go get Osi! Hey... It could happen
Paul Bunyan was once asked what he wanted to be when he grew up...
    He said "Evan Gattis"

Yes awesome news. If we do resign grimes we have one hole at DE and then we can focus on getting guys that can start for us 2-3 seasons from now.

Good to see we got him signed, honestly I'd now draft Lattimore in the later rounds.

That's exactly what I was thinking as well. High risk/high reward, and he can learn under Jackson. I'd take him 5th round or later.

Same avg value Reggie Bush got, but 1 less year. Same $4M guarantee too, so it's really more like a 1-2yr deal.

It'll be even better if they split the guaranteed money the first couple years to lower the hit and backload the rest.

Should turn out to be well worth it. What "The Beast" did behind that horrid Rams offensive line for all these years is nothing short of spectacular.

I agree. Crazy how people in the main forum argued that he's overrated. A 2-time All-Pro behind THAT line? Yeah, OK.
