This is truly a Free Agent watch

Our Cowboys are simply watching all the significant FAs get signed... Only significant guy I saw us linked to? Over the hill, ready to retire Brian Urlacher...

We're in such a mess right now it seems...ZERO cap space to do anything, and, worst of all, we've been putting together no better than .500 ball clubs the past 5 years now.... not fun...

At least Jerry's still making doe...

I hope it doesn't take us declining any further for Jerry to figure out that he is not our best option as GM.

It's good to see all the Yankees fans in here complaining about not spending money.

The thread was not about Jerry Jones drafting players it was about Dallas not being active in free agency. But you can't spend money you don't have and they were very active last year.

I like Bennett as well and letting Spencer go would probably have netted dallas two possibly three players. But you know what have in Spencer to an extent and you don't know how any of the free agents are gonna turn out or fit with the team or coaches. Granted he's never played DE in a 4-3 but that's why tagging he was perfect. If he doesn't fit the new scheme he's gone. But I think he'll be better not having to cover or call audibles and just rush the passer.

Also saying Spencer and Bennett had similiar stats is untrue. Before this season Bennett's sack totals were 4,1 and 1. And his 41 tackles was a career high. Spencer had 55 more tackles and two more sacks while playing less games. But the biggest difference is that they weren't playing the same position.

As a Yankees fan you should know all about spending on the wrong personal. And the reason why Dallas capped out is because they've resigned their own good players instead of taking a flyer on unknowns.

Report: Doug Free’s spot with Cowboys safe for now

Posted by Josh Alper on March 15, 2013, 10:06 AM EDT

    AP
The Cowboys’ lack of cap space has been discussed quite often this offseason and tackle Doug Free’s outsize salary cap hit has come up whenever those discussions turn toward ways to alleviate the concern.

It doesn’t look like Free or his cap hit are going anywhere, though. Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com reports that there currently aren’t any plans to release Free, who struggled so much last season that converted defensive lineman Jermey Parnell split time with him at right tackle over the final stretch of the season.

That would seem to make his $10.02 million cap hit an untenable one, especially since the Cowboys could clear $7 million right now by designating Free as a June 1 cut and spreading the hit out over the next two years. That’s what they did with defensive lineman Marcus Spears, but it apparently isn’t in the works a second time.

Per Watkins, Free’s status could change if the Cowboys land a tackle in the draft that they believe is capable of starting. Barring that, though, it looks like Free will be free in name only.

    shouldn't they cut Free?

it does no good to cut him now. all savings will be a post june 1. if they cut him now, they would have to designate him a june 1st cap hit.

so, keep him, make sure we get who we want, then cut him...

wait...i have no idea what im talking about... i hate doug free. seriously, im not going to defend us not cutting him.... what the hell?

i hate doug free. i have no idea why we havent cut him. even if we dont find a replacement, we should cut him.

maybe we are trying to eff him over by keeping him till after most of free agency is done?

    i dont know.

if he doesnt get cut, im going to be super angry.

Primetime, cHi8DaL5LA420 I miss you guys.
    Not the same without you.
