Mike Trout will leave the Angels IMO

I cant believe what I saw today.... Trout in LF

Trout was maybe the best CF in MLB last year and now they are moving him to LF??? The position change from CF to LF hurts his MVP chances and (more importantly) makes him less valuable during arbitration years.

Add that to the fact that the Angels only raised his salary by like $30k....

For real. Last years real MVP will be paid $500k for the year and switch to LF.

Which brings me to my point, Trout is going to bail an the Angels ASAP

Can you imagine???? The Angels come across the best rookie player of all time and they nickel and dime him while spending 100s of millions on Hamilton, Pujols, Weaver.... SMDH

The Angels are my AL team and I'm disappointed about this.

You can start the countdown to the Trout wants to be traded madness. I wonder if the NYY would have enough to get him

He got paid what he got paid because that's how the system works. The Angels are not obligated, nor should give him millions of dollars because he had a fantastic year. Why not let him continue to prove himself? He has about approximately one year under his belt in service time. The more service time he accrues and the more he produces at a high level, the higher his salary will be. He hasn't even hit arbitration yet. Once he does, that's when he'll start seeing the dollars signs. Young players don't make a lot of money during their first few years.

I have no problem with the way the Angels handled the situation.

You want to know how it really works?

Teams need to keep their players happy or else they will leave

    Yep..

If he has another great season, i wouldn't be surprised if the Angels offered to buy out some of those arbitration years and maybe one year in FA but we will see what happens.

    Where is he going?

He's not a FA till 2018 and i am sure if the Angels pony up the cash in or around FA, he'll stay.

The Angels are only doing things within the rules that SFrush mentioned.

And what makes you believe he was upset? Did you read anything that gave you that impression? I sure didn't.

He was a rookie. Because of one year he should be paid like an All-Star that has put together several consecutive years of high production? No. When he continues to play like he did last year or around the same level, then he'll get paid accordingly. It's part of the game. That's just how the system works.

Trouts agent was reportedly irate. He issued a statement on it

This link shows how upset Trout and his agent are

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...upset/1959053/

In an e-mail to the Los Angeles Times, Landis wrote, "In my opinion, this contract falls well short of a 'fair' contract, and I have voiced this to the Angels throughout the process."

THis supports my theory as well:

Fox's baseball insider Ken Rosenthal reported the Angels offered Trout more than $510,000, but shy of the $1 million he wanted.

Rosenthal says he was told Trout rejected the Angels' offer, and Arte got angry and renewed Trout at $510,000 as a "punitive measure."

We should all be punished so harshly, but it's interesting to hear again how wrong we were to judge Arte Moreno as the benevolent owner.
