Todd McClure retires | UPDATE: Blank announces his #62 will be in the Ring of Honor

Free agent C Todd McClure is retiring from football.

The Falcons' starting center since 2000, McClure walks away with 195 career starts under his belt. McClure was still playing at a high level as recently as 2011, but fell back in 2012. He's probably getting out at the right time.

Nope. He's like Bob Whitfield: Good-not-great who anchored in the 90s. Neither is in the class of, say, Mike Kenn.

Our ROH needs to put more emphasis on excellence (Deion, maybe Tony) over longevity (Brooking, Whitfield).

Arthur Blank to Todd McClure: You deserve to be in that Ring of Honor, and we will get you there as soon as we can. #RiseUp
They are having his retirement press conference right now. AB and I disagree, but congratulations to him nonetheless.

Congrats to Todd. He may not have been the best center we've ever had but he has been on this team for a long time and has been excellent for almost all of it.
