I like how consistent the team has been since we've switched to an 8 man rotation. I think that's the biggest contributing factor in our recent success.
What happens when Pau returns? Do we cut minutes or a player from the rotation?

pau definitely will crack the minutes by cutting some time for clark and metta.
Just cut the minutes from MWP and switch Clark to Sf,Pau at center,Jamison at power forward,Nash/Blake and Kobe/Meeks. That's mostly a back-up line up,but it can be good and we add Pau at center. In the starting lineup, if Pau wants to play, he should cover the Pf spot.
Bring Pau off the bench and play him at C when Dwight gets his rest. Then bring Dwight back in and play him with pau for a couple mins before Pau goes back to the bench.
Pau isn't going to be playing major mins when he returns anyway. He will gradually work himself back into game shape.
Starters:
Nash
Kob
Ron
Earl
Dwight
1st subs: (around the 6 min mark)
'tawn for earl
2nd subs: (around the 4 min mark)
Pau for Dwight
Blake for Nash
Blake
Kobe
Ron
'tawn
Pau
2nd quarter subs:
Meeks for Kobe
Earl for Ron
Blake
Meeks
'tawn/earl
'tawn/earl
Pau
--then you can either play a big line up with earl at the 3, pau at the 4, and dwight at the 5... or you can sub dwight in for Pau.
It also depends on the size of the other team. Pau has trouble defending when there is a stretch 4 and the other team forces him to guard p n r's. If that's the case, then don't play him big minutes w/ dwight.
I like it all, there's no way Metta should be playing more than 25 mpg - and he has consistently been at 35+. When he gets extended minutes, he loses his legs and his shooting/defense suffer. He's old and robotic, he needs to be playing at full speed at all times.
Nash - 32
Kobe - 34
MWP - 25
Clark - 30
Dwight - 36
Pau - 30 (eventually)
Blake - 16
Meeks - 14
Jamison -23
Obviously it will fluctuate based on who's hot/not - but this is the mindset to go with. And Pau's gotta give us something big when he comes back, during the playoffs. Lord knows it's his last run in PnG.
I like the idea of bringing Pau off of the bench at center. If he doesn't like it, too ****ing bad... he's out of here after this season anyway. And I'd like to cut Meeks minutes, just a bit, to 0.

Nash/Blake
Kobe/Meeks
MWP/Kobe/Twan/Clark
Clark/Twan/Pau
D12/Clark/Pau
Any of those 9 players, playing together at each position i placed them in is fine for me.
Kobe/Howard will probably play 40-45 minutes in the playoffs.
Unfortunately.
Meeks is absolute garbage. There are people in the stands at every NBA game who would bring just as much to the table. He is here to hit wide open threes and the only time he can do it is if we have a comfortable lead. Any hint of pressure at all... CLANK. Expect him to absolutely disappear in the playoffs.

I'd like to see Pau come off the bench the first few games back till he gets back in game shape. If things go well and we win games, then leave him there. If it doesn't work, bring metta off the bench, move clark to the 3 and start Pau
What do you think is more important to Jim Buss? Some supposed "2014 plan" or overpaying a declining and oft-injured Pau Gasol, who can't even make the All-Star team anymore, an astronomical 20 million?? ... (more than LeBron James will make, by the way)... and that's before THE LUXURY TAX HIT. The Lakers are already showing they can win games without him. Our stupid *** front office should have moved him for expirings and picks two ****ing years ago.
