Saw Yankees discussing Derek Lee, who last played for Pirates in 2011. The guy was good in his time and maybe a minor league deal but is he ready to go, doubt it. Just saying, with the way this operation is going this year and the older players, injuries etc. we are considering another oldster.

I saw this too and I'm not in love with the idea. I would much rather see the young guys in the system get a shot. Some of them are having very good springs.
If we had a young team that needed some leadership and brought him in to fill a hole, I'd think it was a good idea.
With that said, he had a good year offensively with the Pirates a couple years ago and he was a gold glove 1b.
For a small deal...meh.
Unless Tex is down for longer than they think, which is always a possibility, I'm on the fence. I personally am not a huge fan of the idea but I didn't love the Ibanez deal either and that worked out quite well.Last edited by Kinkotheclown; 03-11-2013 at 07:37 AM.
