Victor Cruz - Would you give up your first and a big contract to steal him away?

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...er-eyes-market

Hypothetical question, would you give up your first and a sizable contract, north of 8 million per year for Cruz and snatch him as an RFA from the Giants?

Not many players ever get taken when given a high tender and it would be interesting to see if Cruz could garner some attention.

    Thoughts?

Probably not a first, but I would definitely give a few high picks, like a 2nd and couple of thirds. There are very few receivers in the league worth a first.

EDIT: Given what the OP is asking, I doubt the Giants get any bites

If it was Calvin Johnson then yes but def not for Cruz. I don't even think he is the best WR on his team

Maybe a late first round pick in a trade, but I would not give him the contract he is looking for.

I wouldnt for my team but I could definitely see some teams that could.

A team towards the bottom of the draft, especially if they plan to draft a WR. After 20 I think you should consider it. Hes one of the better WRs in the game, especially at what he does specifically.

It's basically a trade for Cruz, requiring only 1 first round pick. He would be forced to sign a long term deal.

That is the thing though, not only would you give up a first round pick but you would also have to give him a hefty contract. Giving him one or the other isn't as huge of a deal but giving up both for him kinda is. He isn't even top 5 at his position.

It might not be a good idea, but yeah. I would.
I'm in favor of liberalized immigration because of the effect it would have on restaurants. I'd let everybody in except the English.

I think the chances of a Nicks, Randle, Jernigan receiving corps has a 50/50 chance of happening. If the rumors are accurate, a lot of teams are lining up to make an offer with the Giants using that 1st round tender. Maybe Reese is waiting to see how high the #1 would be and decide then whether to resign him or let him go.

It's going to be tough to hold onto Cruz, Nicks and JPP.

Is he a top 5 wr? No Is he a top 5 slot WR? Yes

In the past 3 seasons he has

6th most receptions, 5th most yards and 6th most rec. touchdowns among WRs...top 10 numbers if you ask me

now on to your talk of one or the other...I agree to a point. It's basically a trade and then you extend him at your own price. The point is Victor Cruz can be had for a first round pick, any first round pick. STL could give up 22 for Cruz and then sign him long term, same with any team NE, SF, Bal, Hou, etc. Teams on the back end are playoff teams. Playoff teams + Victor Cruz = Scary

If i were a team near the bottom of the 1st round that was targeting a wr...i would def consider it...victor is still a young buck and a proven commodity
