Myers Doesn't think he'll be back

Sounds to me like Myers and his agent haven't received an offer, maybe have other irons in the fire. I like Myers, hope he is back next season. We did bring in a TE on future contract.

I like him also, but he is so easy to replace. And the draft has 4 outstanding Te coming out , from the mid first to early 4th rd.

That's a good point. This is a supply vs. demand situation. Myers isn't the only free agent TE available and the draft has a number of good ones. I expect the Raiders to sign a veteran, likely one who is known as a good blocker, and then draft a young guy mid to late.

I wonder if Gordon (our "enforcer" last year) will fit the power scheme better. Hadn't thought about drafting a TE. As long as we don't try to convert another WR, I don't think the Ausberry project went as planned. looked lost on blocking assignments when he got on the field.

Depending on how we trade down (the only way i see us draft a TE) there are some good TE's. the kid from SJ state, (Otten?) is rated 6th, got a staff infection at the senior bowl and didn't play. wonder where he will go? TE is also an easy position to get unnoticed in some schemes as well and fall to UDFA. Go scouts!!

Hard to throw a Hawkeye under the bus, but this guy is average at best. Easily replaceable in my opinion by a person much cheaper than he probably wants at this point.

Raiders didn't franchise anyone, doesn't mean they won't give him an offer. they still have 2 weeks to figure that out

I think Gordon could be the 3rd TE, good blocker/short yardage guy. I agree on Ausberry, don't think he makes the cut. I could see us signing a guy like Anthony Fasano (played for Sparano in MIA) and then drafting a guy to develop. I'm a big fan of Kelce from Cincinnati, but he's likely going in the first 3 rounds.

we only have so many draft picks and honestly need a ton of players. I dont see us chasing a TE in the draft unless a high character / talent guy falls in our lap

Translation: I want to get paid. They just offered me chump change. I'm out.

Reality: Not many teams will be lining up with the big check.

I saw Myers on NFL channel this AM . He also said that he would like Carson Palmer as his QB if he had a choice . I think he will be replaced . He does have good hands though. But his blocking and routes could be better.

At times, Myers really struggled to hold the edge while run-blocking.

In another year, with a different cap situation, I wouldn't mind re-signing Myers. This year, with the Raiders current cap situation, I don't think they can afford to sign a TE who struggles with run-blocking.

Myers is a good receiver, so it's likely the team will struggle to replace his receiving skills. While it's unlikely they'll replace him in the passing game, I'm hoping Reggie can find a TE who can both catch AND block.

Even if the team loses some pass production, if they can find a TE who's better at blocking in the run game, the total offensive production should be roughly equal, I'd hope.

Not a good run blocker at all... And watching him drop clutch passes or TD's doesn't help either. His stats were padded being Palmer's checkdown. His replacement will not be hard to find.
