Joey Votto Named Face of the MLB

    http://cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/201...e-of-baseball/

I gotta say, this is a little surprising. Not a bad pick as Votto is one of the best in the game, but certainly not who came to my mind. I don't think he is that well known, but apparantly he is.

The guys who came to my mind were Verlander, Cabrera and Pujols, just because they seem to be pretty much household names at this point. I am not sure you could ask some random casual fan about Joey Votto and get much info about him. Just a little surprising as he isn't quite the biggest name out there yet.

    Thoughts?
You have no idea how excited I am right now.

Yeah I don't know if I agree with that. He's one of the best, but he just doesn't seem like the most popular guy to me.
    Go to hell Marwin Gonzalez.

Jeter, Posey, Trout, Kemp, Kershaw, Verlander, Miggy

I wouldn't say Votto as the 'face' of the MLB

It's not Votto. Votto is possibly the best player in mlb IMO.

But not the face, someone more well known and popular should be.

Votto's first round fight against Mauer....I'd almost take Mauer.

How did Miguel Montero beat Buster Posey?

How did Starlin Castro beat Yadier Molina?

Votto beat out Mauer, Bautista, Jeter, Cutch and Kemp

Were Reds fans just stuffing this ballot box or something?

Sounds like an absolutely meaningless competition and title. Exciting.

The face of the MLB should be someone a person who doesn't follow baseball has heard of. Everyone has heard of Derek Jeter...

It's either Jeter or Pujols for sure. The face of MLB is someone you instantly think of when you think about a major league player...the casual baseball fan can recognize these two in street clothes rather easily.
