After seeing both Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter put up big numbers in limited minutes, I'm really interested in the future of the Jazz. Just wanted to see what Jazz fans thought of the two and what their floor/celing player comparison would be.

OKAY... I'm retarded. I would rather be a retarded Jazz fan
than an idiotic, equally as retarded, Whore-ior fan.
props to UJ47.
I saw some posters in the Bobcats forum and Orlando forum talking about the possibilities of getting Favors and Kanter through free agency. We didnt trade DWill to have Favors gone in 3 years...
Though we didnt trade DWill to have Favors sit through nearly an entire 2nd half after beasting out of control in the first half...

I have more optimism for Enes than for Favors. I see an actual game developing with Enes who is now a very solid shooter and has developed nice footwork out of back-to-the-basket possessions. Enes is developing a game that blends well within the plays.
Favors is a raw physical talent who is capable of using his length, speed and strength to get on the front of the rim in the chaos of the paint. He is very good at quickly tapping balls on the boards and is very difficult to stop within three feet. Unfortunately he has yet to develop a dependable face up shot or the disciplined footwork needed to attack a set defense. Favors often forces things as he tries to get all the way to the basket.
Given their current trajectories I see a much higher ceiling for Enes and fear that Favors will become one dimensional.
During a game in 1982, Frank Layden, then head coach of the Utah Jazz, had seen enough of his team's poor performance and wanted an early exit. Layden verbally abused Strom so he could get ejected from the game. Strom knew what he was trying to do, and when Layden asked why he didn't eject him, Strom replied, "I know what you're trying to do, Frank, but if I've got to stay out here and watch this $#!^, so do you".
My vote is for the youth movement to begin. I would be in favor of starting Favors and Kanter next season. Let Al walk, and resign Millsap. We would have a great 3 man rotation with Favors/Millsap/Kanter. Favors needs to play center, thus we can't re-sign Jefferson.
Favors
Floor- Serge Ibaka/ Tyson Chandler type, solid starter & defensive anchor, 13/10/3 (points/rebounds/blocks)
Ceiling- Dwight Howard/ Al Horford type, multi year all-star, 20/12/4
Kanter
Floor- Emeka Okafor / Marcin Gortat type, average starter
Ceiling- Zach Randolph type, uses his body well to score and rebound, can score inside and out
I can't wait to dump Jefferson and Milsap this summer. This is going to be so exciting. Now all we need is a decent PG. Doesn't have to be great but one that can utilize the offense at least. He also has to be somewhat productive obviously.
Kanters ceiling given to him by draftexpress, was Kevin Love, which is pretty good. Burks ceiling was Brandon Roy. Favors ceiling was Al Horford.

to the question
Favors = Ben wallace/Camby defensively...we are talking DPOY multiple years, offensively I actually think he is a 15-18ppg type guy at most
Kanter = is exciting. Great mixture of rebounding, post play, defense, hustle, mid range jumper with nice mechanics if I had to compare him to someone I would say David Robinson

I actually see Favors more of a David Robinson just for his length.
But Even today ESPN questioned Corbin on his rotation and not playing Favors at all in the 2nd half. More media coverage is good and bad for us.
Fire Me
Favors - Shows good touch with his left hand explosive to the rim and has show a 5 - 10 ft hook shot. Needs more confidence with his Offensive game and he is not be allowed minites to develope confidence.
Floor - Derrick Coleman Likely - Javell McGee, Ceiling - Hakeem Olajuwon
Kanter - Likely he will develope a 3pt shot durring his career. shows good technique, work ethic and form. young with a High Motor I would Say Kevin Love but I don't think he will be as accurate from long Range.
Floor - Emeka Okafor Likely - Taller Carlos Boozer, Ceiling - Arvydas Sabonis
^ you think Favors could be Dream? I dont see that I wish for that but it seems pie in the sky at this point

I agree that it most likely wont happen but I think the way that Derrick is a big fwd/C that plays a better face up game and when he post often resorts to a 5 - 10 ft hook shot. while being an Effective shot blocker. I see a lot of similarities in style. He lacks the Touch Hakeem had and footwork has a long ways to go. But that is his ceiling. at 23 hakeem played 35.5 min per game 20.6 points 11.9 reb and 2.7 blk Favors at 21 years old per 36 min. 15.6 pts 10.6 rebs 2.3 blk. while playing off of big Al.

^I loved to watch the Dream. To be fair to Favors, that video was when the Dream was in his prime. There are few big men as athletic as Favors in the league. With his length and athleticism a little hook shot or jumper is almost unstoppable. The coaching staff needs to help him develop a few unguardable moves.
WOW, comparing Favors to The Dream and The Admiral or even Dwight Howard......Just a little bit ridiculous if you ask me. I think that everybody is seriously overreacting to the last couple games. I say we let the guy prove he can just be a solid starter and actually stay on the court before we start these kinds of ridiculous comparisons.
Just to show you how ridiculous they are. Hakeem's first year 20/12/1/1/3 I doubt that Favors will ever have a season that good and it was Olajuwon's first year. Please guys, lets keep it realistic. And seriously, Derrick Coleman is worse than Javalle McGee?
