Raptors Starting Five Currently #1 In Defensive Rating

According to League Stats On NBA.com

I don't know that this is completely threadworthy but I wasn't sure where else to put it so I just made a new thread.

I guess it is Something positive to take away from this season amidst all of the current negativity and frustration.

Im not sure exactly what the formula is for coming up with this rating but we are there with all the top defensive teams in the league (Memphis, Chicago, Indy etc) so its gotta be indicative of something significant

i think you got it wrong. i'm pretty sure that means our defensive rating is the worst, first FROM THE BOTTOM... im not sure though so until someone can clarify, im completely lost lol

Things are about to get GAY in Toronto.

it also displays our defensive rating with a starting lineup of jose, demar, landry, ed and amir at 102.6.....

so does that mean that lineup was worse or better defensively? im confused since there's no explanation of how to formulate the number.

The lower the DRTG number, the better. 75.8 is a VERY good number. That's HOF-like.

The article is referring to 5 man lineups. Not full rosters.

(Jonas, Amir, Gay DeRozan, Lowry) in 11 games 117 mins has the leagues best defensive rating at 75.8

Their offensive rating is 21st at 96.6

A net positive rating of 20.9 with that 5 man unit on court.

Small Sample Size (11 games vs Indiana's 50). If they can keep this number up, we don't need an offense.

Imagine if/when Jonas develops & becomes a better man defender.

The original piece also stated that in the last 8 games Jonas shot the ball only 24 times. He's averaging 3 shots a game. Not sure how many attempts Amir is averaging a game but the lack of use for our bigs is why the offensive rating is only 21st.

Our half court offense is predictable & poor. Credit Casey for the defense.

We also have problems with rebounding. Casey has emphasized increasing the pace all year, that's why you see Lowry trying to inbound the ball himself out of sheer impatience, but it's just not happening.

We need a lot of things like a PG off the bench.

I'm skeptical of the number because we haven't faced very good offensive teams yet and because of the small sample size.

With Jonas, Amir & Rudy you have a lot of length, athleticism & energy in the front court.

Our traditional line up offers no spacing. Our small line up does. Trade offs.
