Why doesn't Doug play Arnett Moultrie????

Every time I see this kid I see a guy who can run the pick and roll, is an aggressive rebounder, and is more physical than our current bigs..WTF? Why not give him some significant minutes Doug?? I don't understand..I know Doug is tough on rookies but if he's complaining about lack of effort on the glass and we're tanking faster than sh*&..what is there to lose? Let's see what the kid's got.
    I don't understand it

    Your thoughts?

    risk aversion.

personally, i believe that uncertainty is a very underrated aspect of player evaluation, but just about 95% of coaches (across all levels of play) will default to known mediocrity (royal ivey) over someone with a wider possible range of outcomes.

and this is especially the case with dogu collins, as a result of his being a massive control freak. he's not even close to being the only offender, but when you ask why he won't play moultrie or why he would start tony battie last year and DNP-CD nik vucevic, that is the heart of the answer.

doug, collins is a joke, he should have LOL on the back of his game suits. Dude already makes a mistake alienating vuc, then does it the following year with moultrie all over again. Even alienated turner. This is just what doug does. Cant wait for him to be fired. Watching the wiz get 4th chances at scoring due to offensive rebounds in the 4th quarter as moultrie sat on,the bench the last 9 minutes was a joke! Not to mention he was highly effective in the 3rd quarter when he got some minutes made it even worst! What young player would wanna play for doug? Moultrie plays well abd gets benched.... Go figure

Because it wouldn't matter. So, instead, Doug chooses to play guys he's comfortable with as he continues to seek a playoff spot. He's not going to tell Spencer to have a seat so he can get more minutes for his (basically) second round, eventual Speights-like rookie. (YAWN)

Has he looked good? Eh, sure. He's been fine. Next year he'll play more...year after, even more...

    You get the idea.

Who knows. Couple more injuries, and he'll have to play Moultrie.

He's the only Big on the roster who is a respectable finisher at the rim. I can understand why people want to see him play considering how long this franchise has gone without Bigs who can finish inside the paint. While I can live with him getting more minutes, there is no way he's ready to outplay Hawes or Thad. Lavoy has been poor enough that maybe he can take some more of his minutes some games. The coach is just going to go with who gives him the best chance to win. Most nights that just isn't Moultrie. Hey, knowing Doug's track record let's just be thankful he's getting more PT than Kwame.

He's an old school coach who has failed to evolve with the times and still believes in the vet over rookie logic. Its one of his flaws as a coach that keeps him in the above average, but not good or great range.

Its one of the many reasons I would be totally fine with moving on from the Collins era.Funny thing is I wasn't even the biggest Moultrie guy when he was drafted, but he definitely deserves minutes over the useless Spencer Hawes or Lavoy combo.

^same with me. Didnt like the pick, espcially trading for him. Was far from impressed with his first few games in the league and then even lessimpressed with his d league stint. But he has certainly made the most of his mibutes when he got them.

In 87'-88' he played Scottie Pippen 20.9 MPG his rookie year. The same year he played rookie Horace Grant 22.6 MPG. He choose instead to give Brad Sellars & Dave Corzine the bulk of the minutes.

In 95'-96 He played raw rookie Theo Ratliff 17 MPG.

In 2001'-02' he played future Hall of Famer Kwame Brown 57 times at 14 MPG.

Evan Turner's rookie season? 23 MPG

    Vucecic? 51 games at 15.9

Moultrie is playing less than half the games at 8.2 MPG.

I guess Doug just isn't impressed by Moultrie.

One thing I will say is those smattering of minutes Doug gives Wright at PF (God I hate that) could and probably should go to Moultrie in addition to his current minutes. But dear God someone has to teach Moultrie how to defend a screen.....against starters for too many minutes that will get exposed, badly.
