How will we fix our pass rush?

Just throwing out another opinion poll. Curious to see how everyone feels on the subject of our Abe-less D-Line.

Well i actually picked 3. Osi has been linked to us before so i think we sign him. I also feel we will draft a DE in the 1st round or second. I also picked bringing Abraham back at a discount. Idk if that will happen but it sounds good to me. Especially if we dont draft a DE that is ready to start right away.

I really dont see a chance we go after Revis. Way too much money hes asking for.

I took Abe, Revis, and draft a couple DEs for now. Couldn't decide on which FA(s).

I don't think that we will make any big splashes, personally. I see us certainly drafting. I also see us moving to a 3-4. Despite this, I see Abe coming back cheap because he wants to and we won't deny him as a situational player with a situational salary.

Poll said "How should" not "How will" so I voted based on that, but I don't believe they'll do everything I've suggested.

I think a switch to a 3-4 will work if a OLB who can create a rush off the edge like Clay Matthews does is brought in. (Jarvis Jones)

Looking at it earlier I figured the Falcons really need 4 defensive starters added this off season (three if they retain Grimes). Two DE's, a MLB, and a CB. So I would sign Osi, draft a DE in one of the first two rounds and then hit the free agent market for a MLB and a CB assuming Grimes is unreasonable on contract demands. The ideal scenario this off season for me would be to unite the Bennett brothers in Atlanta. That would fix two potential holes but seems far fetched.

No more Rose? When is football season again?

I've seen a few writers make the same argument against Michael Bennett and Michael Johnson that people made against Ray Edwards a couple years ago... meaning, they put up great numbers because they play next to all-world defensive tackles (Geno Atkins and Gerald McCoy) who get all the attention. Just thought it was interesting, don't know if I agree all the way. I think a couple of you have said similar things about Spencer and Kruger.

Yes that is why i like Osi. He is proven and has proven he can be a force consistently.

To play devil's advocate, nobody has played with better pass rushers opposite them than Osi so if the playing with great players to take attention away is the issue then Osi's constantly injured self isn't a great answer. I do like Cliff Avril now that the Lions didn't franchise him. I'm not in love with Michael Bennet and i have the same fear about Ray Edwards as others do but seemed like a decent fit.

Well actually, your right. He played on side of great DEs. He never played on side beast DTs though like the rest that is named.

Ray Edwards- Kevin Williams & Pat Williams
    Cliff Avril- Suh
    Micheal Johnson- Geno Atkins
    Micheal Bennett- Gerald Mccoy
Osi- a bunch of avg. DTs not worth talking about

Osi has played with great DEs but he didnt play with anyone inside who commanded a double team consistently and that took the double team from his side. IMO, he is the most proven. Injuries is a problem for sure but there is no doubting his ability. I actually dont like Avril at all. Hes horrible against the run and his only good years came in contract years and were all next to Suh. Avrils best year came in Suh's best year. Suh had a down year last year and what did Avril do? Not get double digit sacks. We dont have anyone in the middle that crashes the pocket in the inside. Avril needs that just like Ray Edwards did.
