Kobe, LeBron, Melo, etc.. impressed by Isaiah Thomas

Find out how NBA All-Stars have been impressed with No. 22’s talent and will to win.

In the midst of a standout sophomore campaign, Isaiah Thomas continued to turn heads around the League, notching 18 points and a game-high-tying 10 assists in the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday.

On Saturday, numerous NBA All-Stars raved about the Kings guard’s resilience, evolving game and strong leadership.

    Miami Heat forward LeBron James

    On his impression of Thomas:

“I think he’s very good. I think the best thing about what he’s doing is he’s using the motivation from being drafted last as fuel. Every time he goes out on the floor and (plays against) every team that passed up on him, he’s using that as fuel to say, ‘I have something to motivate me every single night.’ It’s an awesome thing. He goes out and he proves it … I saw he played well (in the Rising Stars Challenge).”

    L.A. Lakers guard Kobe Bryant

    On his impression of Thomas:

“He has fantastic potential. He’s extremely quick, very crafty, he has an outside game and can get to the rim as well, so I think he has tremendous upside.”

    L.A. Clippers guard Chris Paul

    On his impression of Thomas:

“Isaiah’s great – he can hoop, he’s solid and he’s a leader. That’s the biggest thing that I know (about) Isaiah – he really knows how to lead a team. I think he’s only going to get better as more time goes on.”

    On Thomas’ skill set:

“He’s quick, he can shoot it and he has a nice pace to him. He actually came to my Elite Camp when he was in college, so I’ve known Isaiah for a while.”

    N.Y. Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony

    On his impression of Thomas:

“He’s a little guy with a big heart (who’s) not afraid of the moment, not afraid to make plays. I like that about him.”

    On Thomas’ skill set:

“First of all, he’s small (and) crafty with the ball. It’s always hard to guard a lefty. So, being a lefty, being that small and being able to do the things he can do make it tough (to defend him).”

    Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving

On Thomas’ performance in Rising Stars Challenge:

“Isaiah was doing what Isaiah does – scoring, passing, getting everybody involved. I thought he was trying to go for the scoring record (at first).”

    On his impression of Thomas:

“I’m really impressed. Sixtieth overall pick, he was undervalued, came in and proved something, and that’s what he’s doing now.”

Nice work pulling all that to this thread! The man is ripe for a trade, atlest that seemz to be Kings logic these days. Makes no money, and has a lot of potential still to be tapped. I do want to see what other Kings fans have to say about him. I know for some Jimmer has to get more burn but I.t. needs to play and grow too. I really don't want to see I.t. and Jimmer on the court at the same time. I think there are 2 keys to make i.t. a star. To keep working on his assist totals and his defence. He's got alot of heart, but he is way undersized so defence will be a key before he has a chance to be a star. I think we switch and have our bigs show (out) too much as a result of our guards mediocre d'. If i.t. could show he doesn't need a whole lot of help I believe the whole teams d' would sky rocket. I don't know if it can. But I would love for it to happen.

I really dont know what to do with Jimmer & Isaiah. I think Tyreke is gonna end up staying, Thornton is already signed, and like you said you cant keep Jimmer & Isaiah on the court at the same time. I think eventually one of them will be dealt. I dont think either one of them should start. I think Isaiah is destined to be a super-sub unless his on-court vision and passing skills pick up and become more consistent. Jimmer just flat out hasnt had enough time to prove if he can be a viable starter or not, and that in itself is a problem. In his time that he's gotten hes proven effective but I don't believe hes a starter in this league either. Tyreke and Jimmer can play well together though.

    IT's the man!!!

Everybody always has something to say about him, but he'll never be the reason we lose a game.

I take these comments with a grain of salt... I'm saying this because they said the same damn thing about Tyreke Evans. How's that working out for the Kings... smh!

IT has his moments. He's too streaky, and doesn't pass the ball. When he comes through in the clutch its all good, but I need to see consistency from him. Just like CP3 said, it will come with time.

They said the samething about Reke, but rightfully so. Reke's ballin' this year. The last 2 years that he was "going down hill" was the cause of injury and experimental position change.

I'm hoping that we get a new starting PG and SF and use IT as a backup PG and Jimmer as a backup SG. If we need size at the SG off the bench, then we can use Salmons. I know Jimmer is undersized at the 2, but I think that's his best position. It would also be helpful if we draft a PG with some size like Smart or Carter Williams. Also, I'm hoping we move Thornton in the off-season.

I completely agree. Brooks will leave this offseason cause he has a play option, so we'll have room for a PG with size.

Reke has been balling every so often... The past two games and some spot duty here and there. He was supposed to be amongst the top players... now he just blends in with the average 2 guard.

Like I said, he's been plagued with injury and experimental position change. Just cause he's not one of the elite guards this year, doesn't mean he won't ever be. He can easily be one of the best in the next couple years.

Difference between Reke and Thomas... IT obviously has the work ethic. He never takes plays off... sometimes he ballhogs, but what player on the kings doesn't?

Reke is lazy. He was blessed with amazing talent and a perfect NBA body, but he's lazy. IT has the motivation to get better.

Very true. Reke doesn't have the work ethic. He's still young though. It comes with age, sometimes.
