    He only needs 7000 points, and isn't he still fairly young enough?


    I would think he is capable of playing until he is 37-39, isn't he?


    I think it would be harder for him though to take a role player role to get there.

    I forgot to put retire in my sentence. But, Kobe has indicated at retirement when his contract ends for a while now.

    If the media constantly talks about how he cannot surpass KAJ's record, he probably will play until he breaks it. he does have that competitive nature

    If he is retiring at after next year then zero but if he plays 3-4 more season then it's very likely so that's why I said 30-39%

    Love him or hate him, call him overrated, a punk, chump, and whatever blasphemy you people speak, fact of the matter is there is no denying he's the best of his generation and will go down as a top 5 player ever...what he has done for the NBA is amazing he's the biggest name in basketball all around the world and his chase for number 6 continues! All that matters though to us Laker fans is #17! Lakersnation! #16to17

    I won't claim 0%, I think its more like a 10% chance. Not sure if he will play after next season, if he does, and signs a 2 year deal, he may approach it.

    he claims he's retiring at 2015 season but i don't see him playing more than 5 years. kobe will never be a teams second option thought

    He is not retiring next seaosn, he will now allow himself to end behind jordan in rings, so he will go wherever he needs to go to chase that ring.
    Once he wins it, or if he does not that record will be his final frontier for his ego and he will play intil he is 50 if necesary to surpass it.
