Sam Baker is below-average starter, says one NFL personnel man

Late in the 2012 season, one NFL personnel man described free agent LT Sam Baker as a "below-average" starter.

The personnel man called Baker a stopgap rather than long-term solution. Baker, 28 in May, ranks relatively low on a strong offensive tackle market, coming in 10th in Rotoworld's 2013 free-agent OT ratings. The Falcons could potentially let Baker test the market and re-sign him affordably if interest isn't great.

I think Hill deserves some credit for making him servicable. The line as a whole went from having a reputation for being dirty to being a group that plays you straight up, yet we haven't seen a drop off in technique (flags, whining, etc).

I was really hoping Atlanta would let Gator arms Baker walk but everyone keeps reporting that keeping him is a priority. Oh well, i'd rather be "serviceable" at LT than searching for one.

Instead of try giving all that money to Revis, we should give bout 8 a year to Jake Long. Hes a top 3 lineman when healthy.

I'd rather have Baker back for a decent price than spend a lot on Long.
