    Hello fellow hockey fans...

saw this news...thought I would pass it along!

This could be end of the DiPietro's injury-filled Isles career that appeared doomed from the moment he signed that 15-year contract. The Islanders plan to recall Kevin Poulin from Bridgeport once DiPietro clears waivers. DiPietro will then be assigned to the club's AHL affiliate and the Islanders will then be paying two goalies $9 million combined not to play NHL games for them.

I don't get how this works. If he's expected to clear waivers, then why do this? Poulin really a better option?

Will anyone actually be willing to claim him? Prob not right? If they do though that means the Isles would be off the hook for the rest of his contract?

no they honestly dont really save anything besides if there were bonuses in his contract. And that I dont know the under writing of. But with the amenity maybe they can buyout his contract. I think its more less sending a msg.

Play to your ability, or your contract or end up like DiPi

just my 2c from the outside looking in

Wish Ricky all the best! Always felt bad for him. Didn't deserve being the butt of jokes. Never his fault that he couldn't stay healthy. Hope he goes down to AHL and kicks some serious ***!!!! Good luck Ricky!

They sent him down because they couldn't trust him...plain and simple. They were afraid to use him when Nabby needed a rest. Can't be afraid to put in your back up goalie...especially in a compressed schedule. DP was just not reliable!

    1. Yes, Poulin is a better option. DP has been HORRENDOUS.

    2. This just gets rid of the distraction. He's a distraction and now this sets us up to keep him in the AHL, have him retire, or buy him out.

    3. Poulin is a solid G prospect, lets see what he has at this level. Start him as a backup and look forward to him being our starter next year.

    4. No ones gonna claim him but it's irrelevant. We keep his contract, but he's gone. It's a win

Good move. DP just isn't what that contract says he is. I'm looking foward to Poulin, really down year in the AHL but he has success at the NHL level and thats all that matters, the guy is only 22 I think. DP just couldn't come in and win games in a backup role. Defense didn't help, but that Senator game was horrific, and that is what sealed his fate my friends. I hope someone picks him up, but that is highly unlikely considering that contract. Poulin has had his rash of injuries too, and looked really disapointing down in Bridgeport lets just hope he brings his best back to the NHL level.

Yessssss finally gone, now they can have more stability at the goalie position. I can not say that I am sad he is gone. Next move is to bring up El Niņo.
