"I shot 90% from the line in High School" - Dwight Howard

Is this true? if it is, how is that possible? you go from 90% to under 60% during your nba career. Has this happened to other nba players. I say its BS or he is exaggerating. someone please find the stats.

He said this during an interview with espn a couple of weeks back. I dont know if this was discussed before.

Yeah he said it. Just like everybody that play ball, it is mostly in your head. That was Howard's reasoning. I suck with FT as well and I am a god damn good shooter. When I shootmy FT's, I have to do my ritual **** or else i'll definitely miss it.

What does that have to do with anything though?

Pau, Dirk, Yao, etc are all pretty huge and shoot much better than Dwight.

How big were his hands when he shot 90%? I bet that's where you'll find the answer. Big hands=hard to shoot

If he was shorter, then maybe he shot a respectable %. I say he shot in the 70-77% range. No way you can go from 90 to below 60 over a couple of years.

You're a better shooter when you're shorter because the arc and angle is different. Pau, Dirk and Yao probably learned to shoot starting from when they were shorter and just adapted as they grew. Howard probably never was a good shooter to begin with, which is why him shooting 90% is probably an exaggeration.

He could've been talking about his first year of HS or something. He was probably around 6'6" or shorter during his first 2 years of H.S.
