Bucks turn down Illy trade to Nets

Can't believe we past up the chance for Brooks. I know some of you don;t really know him but he could be a very solid 2 for us.

Plus it looks like we wont be getting Smith. Last thing I want is us doing nothing except that awful trade for Redick.

Nobody wants the Humpty Hump on that deal. He has regressed dramatically. How was the Reddick deal bad? moute is overpaid and doesn't fit our team right now. He should be a role player on a team with good shooters.

Pretty much Ersan for Brooks? Everybody whines about Ellis on here but all Brooks is is a poor mans version...shoot shoot shoot shoot and more shoot. There's a reason why he sits on the end of the bench in Brooklyn and why nobody has traded for him....

Really because he is shooting 46% on the season, yeah he's not playing that much but you cannot hold that against him.

Just don't think Redick is worth a 1st. I think you can get a guy like him in the 2nd of just about any draft.

But he did get significant playing time last year...and he shot 42%. Ellis has been under 42% in only his rookie season (besides this year)...or 7/9 years.

Yes, Brooks is younger, but that %'age point is moot.

I think you're underrating Redick's impact. He's a tremendous shooter and can spread the floor as well as anyone in the league. He's improved substantially on defense since he came into the league, and he's a very solid passer/play-maker as well.

Not to mention that if it's a 2013 pick we're giving up, 1) we're not finishing lower than ninth this year more than likely, so our pick is going to suck anyways, and 2) this year's draft is godawful as it is.

why is that? i heard it was down to 3 teams nets bucks and the suns....the nets no that hump brooks isnt enough for smith so they tried for ersan instead so that leaves them out of the deal so for smith it'd be either us or the suns... the suns cant put up a better offer, can they..can they? lol hope not

It sounds like we can give Atlanta the best offer. Moreover, Smith apparently isn't opposed to playing in Milwaukee, and has no problem with the city or the climate. Between the payday and the roster we've got, Smith likes what we have to offer.

The question is if it's all contingent on keeping Ellis, because Atlanta seems to want him. At the same time, part of Smith's excitement for playing in Milwaukee is to play with Ellis, whom he's friends with.

I think we need to trade Monta especially if its between keeping him or keeping our pick. I know most of you think that throwing our pick away is a good idea but it's not.

If our scouting is good enough there is plenty of talent throughout each draft to find servicable players. The good team (Spurs) make a killing on later draft picks, now someone will probably say that they are just lucky, false.

Good scouting plays a huge role in being a better team, a contender if you will and our's up til about two years ago was AWFUL for nearly a decade.

Also I hope this deal with Smith isn't held up by Monta, Gery Woelfel: Told by good source Josh Smith would play for Bucks even if Ellis isn't still on team. Twitter @GeryWoelfel

So I just hope we get this done. And I am aware that the chances are slim however he will instantly make the team more exciting and fun to watch, Milwakee could make some money in the next few months on ticket sales alone.

I agree with the exact point you made on finding serviceable players later in the 1st, but therein lies the problem. We don't need more serviceable players. We have arguably the most "serviceable" roster in the league. Basically our entire roster top to bottom is full of solid, yet unspectacular players. While some are obviously better than others, the majority of our roster is good enough to be in the rotation for a good team, but pretty much all of them would/should be at best the 4 or 5 best starter (guys like Sanders, Jennings, Ellis) or be a good piece off of the bench. I didn't neccesarily think we had to trade our first rounder, but continuing to find serviceable players isn't going to make us significantly better.
