Travel back in time with me ....

I begged and pleaded for the Knicks to draft Kenneth Faried back in 2011. Everyone on here said he is undersized, he is not a good shooter. Now almost two years later, Shumpert is on the trading block, and Faried is progressing into one of the more dominant forces in the paint. Was anyone else upset the Knicks passed on this guy back in 11 ?

    Felton
    Smith
    Anthony
    Faried
    Chandler

Thats a traditional lineup with STAT playing the 6th man role splitting minutes with Kenneth.

Now we have a tweener guard instead who quite honestly doesn't have a huge role on this team. I love Shumps intensity on D, but on the offensive side of the floor, he can be non existent at times.

With Faired and Chandler in the paint, you become one of the best rebounding teams in the NBA. Come playoff time when the Knicks are giving up offensive rebounds to more physical teams, they will regret playing Melo at the 4.

I recall a good chunk of guys here wanting Faried. Shumpert was like the last guy on everyones list and was projected nearly a second rounder. I think Faried was close to a favorite around here. IDK what your really getting at.

Yep, I'd say Faried was the popular pick on here before the draft.

But in pretty much any draft you can always look back and say "we should've taken this guy".

At least we didn't draft Singleton, because I recall alot of people wanting him as well... and I have no idea why.

It was pretty much down to Faried and Singleton as the unanimous favorites, with some Marshon Brooks lovers sprinkled here and there. I don't even remember who I wanted pre-draft. I believe I wanted Faried but was fine with Shump. I might have actually wanted Brooks at the time. Really don't remember. I do know I told myself a long time ago I was going to stop pretending to be a scout come draft time, because Knick fans always make themselves look stupid when they do that. I don't think I cared much either way at the time of the draft.

I'm not really sure either too be quite honest, I just can't for the life of me figure out why the Knicks always have to go against the grain and pick a player who is a "sleeper" pick. Not every NBA player has to have star potential, teams need role players to compliment stars, and once again we got stuck with a tween player that can't find a role, where as Faried is black and white. Put him at the 4 when STAT comes off the floor and be happy with his high intensity play and rebounding ability.

Before his injury he was turning into a shutdown win defender was he not ? An Andre Igoudala light? The kid is coming off an ACL surgery not even a year removed. Can we give him some time to get healthy before we write him off as a bust/bad pick. Whats to say Farried turns into the same player with being stuck behind Melo-Stat-Tyson at the PF/C spot ? I love Kenneth Faried he has saved my fantasy basketball season twice now.. But how do we know he turns into the same player? It's easy to say I told you so which is basically what it seems your doing by starting this thread

Shump's future is still to be determined.

    He's babying that injury.

That said, Faried wasn't a sure thing.
He reminded me of Jordan Hill who we DID draft, and I hated every second of that pick.

I don't really remember the picks but yeah, Shumpert wasn't the first pick. He was projected as a 2nd rounder.

The people I do remmeber people talkign about was Leanord, Shelby, and Singleton. Leanord if he fell to us, Singleton as the "safe pick". and Shelby as the Melo pick.

End of the day, we got ourselfs a pretty good pick for being so late anyway
