What a baby. He's still bitter that he didn't win the gold glove last year. Or as he put it, he was too busy "winning."
Back in September, Phillips told CSNChicago's Patrick Mooney he thought he should win the Gold Glove. He also said he knew nothing about Barney's streak."Was I surprised? Yes. I don't get mad at things I really can't control," Phillips told Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay this weekend. "But I was very surprised I didn't see my name. I thought I was getting punked when I heard about it. That's the way it is."
As for why he thinks Barney beat him out for the NL Gold Glove, Phillips believes his flair rubs managers and coaches -- who vote for the Gold Glove -- the wrong way throughout the league."What, he has one or something? Oh, really, that's cool," Phillips said. "That's nice. Honestly, I've been too busy winning."
CSNChicago.com"The only thing I can do is go out and play the game the way I do," Phillips told Fay. "I do it with flair because baseball is a boring game...Do I think that's one of the main reasons I didn't win the Gold Glove? Yeah, I can say that."
