I don't get mad at things I really can't control," Phillips told Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay this weekend. "But I was very surprised I didn't see my name. I thought I was getting punked when I heard about it. That's the way it is."
As for why he thinks Barney beat him out for the NL Gold Glove, Phillips believes his flair rubs managers and coaches -- who vote for the Gold Glove -- the wrong way throughout the league."What, he has one or something? Oh, really, that's cool," Phillips said. "That's nice. Honestly, I've been too busy winning."

The thing about winning I thought was awesome.

Baseball isn't boring. I find baseball to be one of the most exciting, fascinating, most mesmerizing things, on TV or in person. Every last second of it. And I also respect people who are humble.
I hope the "Appel" doesn't fall far from OUR tree.

Maybe Barney was literally just...better? In its most rudimentary form, Barney was better, (3 errors as opposed to 5). In its most advanced form, Barney had a better UZR (13 to 8.1). Phillips doesn't really have much of an argument here.

Wow, I just lost a ton of respect for Brandon Phillips. What a *******. It's one thing to think you're snubbed, but that's just cold. Not only that, I love how he's all passive aggressive with his "winning" comment, like he's scared Barney would kick his *** or something (although maybe Barney could)...what a p***y.

The Reds are the same team that created their own trophy for winning the Central Division.
You expect MLB players and teams to have an ego, but good grief. At least be a gracious loser. I think some of that goes back to Dusty honestly. He seems to tolerate egos and selfishness that other managers wouldn't. Sometimes it probably works, and other times you get players shooting their mouths off.
Admittedly, I hate them anyway since the 2010 brawl, and the Cardinals weren't innocent in that. I've known Brandon Phillips was somewhat of a d-bag since then (Nyjer Morgan is similar in that respect).

Phillips should keep his mouth shut and last year he lost to an amazing streak... I would take Phillips everyday over Barney and honestly I thought it would be a closer vote for the GG but again this guy is just shooting himself in the foot by running his mouth. We get it Brandon you are the better 2B but quit whining and go out there and prove them wrong
