    off season report

    http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...rSPL2zsVTxjVfg
Im sure most of you fanatics have already read this article, but it does touch on some of the questions weve been slapping around.

As far as sources come and go Im generally comfortable with the work Yahoosports does, they put out so little I would hope they have the time to do the research(lol).

Specifically it would appear that whoever in here who had stated the "calendar Year" clause regarding restructures was dialed in.
This writer expects to see a lot of things that we all have spoken regarding including reworks of
Palmer, huff,Branch,TK,DHB, and the release of mcclain.
The release from contract they worked out with Seymour last year seems to indicate that they intended to move on from the guy unless he was willing to take a HUGE pay cut on a one year deal(not likely). But If they DO sit these high dollar jokers down(yes, jokers...theyve been getting paid MAD jack for JV performances)And can force restructures on them or cut them, then Ill be one step closer to the RM fan club. For too long players in Oakland have fealt like they can call the shots and bend AL D over the barrel, Id just as soon play Joselio Hanson at FS for 1.2 million a season and cut huff, then to see him continue to get paid at the level he is without backing it up.Id just as soon find a late round rookie or sign someone like Bigby,or pepra then to pay branch 10 freakin million a season for little of nothing(those of you who are in the know about pepra/bigbys current status, please dont waste the effort educating me, they were just examples of a point).
these moves have to be made regardless of dead cap,and not simply to free up actual cap room. These players donot deserve the money they are getting paid, and this organization honored the deals far longer then they should have already giving them plenty of time to step up and earn it.they didnt,so just as a point of order, bringing the performance/compensation metric back into reality is an important message to the fans and the players as to how thing are going to be done in Oakland Goinmg Forward.

    Come on RM,
I dont want any pussyfooting around on this, everyone of those guys contributes and I would welcome back, but not if they are going to put theimselves before the team and continue stealing money from the davis family.

I'm OK with that. It's not like any of them had a great year and would be difficult to replace. I think there's too many hungry guys out there that would play for less. This is where management earns their pay.
    Good post!

SK, look up restructure on askthecommish. It entails converting salary into bonuses to protate a cap number, this article references that. I have no idea what the details of a team being able or not every year, but it would make sense to regulate it. There is a clear distinction in this article regarding which players should paycut and which restructure.

I'm curious if the June 1st idea of cutting Palmer is correct as well. If that is true, it would make total sense to cut him this year.

Thanks fish, ill check it out, I get tired of being wrong every year as to what we can and cannot do!
Its like watcing a good magicain sometimes the way sh.. gets turned upside down and inside out.
One second we cant do anything the next we have 5-6 million and everyone is happy...Like stork said, it kinda makes you want to put blinders on until its all over.

Yeah, I've read the CBA and am not a lawyer.... So to say anything is set in stone is ridiculous. We hear so many differing stories on cap hits, yet nothing seems true until it is done. The process makes sense, and getting clarity on the process only comes after the fact on our end.

What is clear is how bad our contracts are. I would have no problem cutting them all.

I understand everyone is anxious to get the ball moving, but there are dates that RM must adhere to in order to get the best situation for the team. You can't just go cut crazy. Theres a reason why McClain is still on the roster. I believe theres less of a penalty if you cut him after a certain date. I'm sure theyre still trying to get SOMETHING out of him too via trade.

Same goes with the other guys.

Relax fellas, things ARE moving behind the scenes. When things need to happen, they will happen.

I believe, as mentioned with the "Palmer release scenario", if you cut him "post june 1st" you can divide the cap number of the release over 2 years. besides, we gotta see if someone might give us a ham sandwich or two for him in trade. War room has to eat!!!
