Could you make a competitive NBA team out of former/retired/unsigned players

    Legitimate question....could you?

    Jordan
    Iverson
    T Mac
    Delonte
    Alan Houston
    Shaq
    Yao
    B. Barry
    K Mart
    Marbury
    Arenas
    Regie Miller
    Eddie Curry
    Keyon Dooling
    D Fish
    Darko

To me I would say yes and it would be a marketing dream. Say you take the Bobcats and Jordan sells his share of the team. The front office then trades anything they have worth value e.g. walker, kidd gilchrest, mulldns etc for draft picks and buys whatever else out. You then assemble this old timers league....just imagine not just the buzz it would create but the pr it would bring to the league. It also would reshape the bobcats franchise.....what do you think? Pardon some of my spelling; still getting used to this phone.

No. You need fresh legs in NBA to last 82 games.

The guys you are picking from are out of the NBA because of injuries or because they are old.

Ok I see what you are saying but thats why you assemble a roster that can go 15 deep with nobody having to play more than 20 minutes a night.
Not to mention bring in the best medical staff possible

    Deep? More like shallow.

Guys who at at the end of the bench on contending and lowly teams would be one of the best players on this team.

i say yes, but the bobcats would have to keep kemba, kidd-gilchrist, henderson, and maybe biyombo. those old and injured guys would have to have some young guys mixed in. look at the knicks rasheed, camby, and kidd. they all can barely stay in the roster.

    No.

They might win a few games here and there, but any team with those guys would be the worst in the league.

The Knicks kind of did. Half of that team is gonna be retired next year.

    Not really.

Melo is better than any of those guys up there could be...and by a huge margin. Sheed is damaged goods. Thomas and Camby never play. The only old guy who gets minutes is Kidd, and literally all he does out there is hoist threes. The Knicks' top 5 players (and minute-getters) aren't old/retired guys. They're all 30 and under.
