After today's weird live Bp, i would say he has one more chance too get his act straight or he should be shown the door. I'm glad Farrel pulled him aside and talked too him. That is leadership. Bobby V would have never done that.

what happened?
From weei.
Sunday marked the second day of live batting practice, in which pitcher’s face their teammates from behind the protective “L” screen. The exercise is meant to give pitchers an opportunity to build arm strength while introducing a hint of the competitive adrenaline that will characterize games. It also helps hitters to get used to seeing pitches at game speed.
But when it was Aceves’ turn to throw to Jarrod Saltalmacchia, Jonny Gomes and Mauro Gomez, he did not throw at full speed. He did not even throw at batting practice speed. For about 15 pitches, he simply lobbed the ball to the plate, at approximately the speed at which a pitcher might toss a ball into an umpire if he wanted to replace it.
Members of the Sox staff were flummoxed. Triple-A pitching coach Rich Sauveur tried to get Aceves to pick up the pace. Manager John Farrell asked the pitcher if he was okay; Aceves responded that he was, but kept lobbing the ball to the plate. Finally, pitching coach Juan Nieves visited the pitcher on the mound, at which point Aceves finally started throwing with something resembling the intended intensity of the exercise.
At the conclusion of the session, Farrell summoned Aceves to discuss the pitcher’s approach to his first live batting practice session of the spring.

Really... I know he's a headache, but really... Farrell was showing whos the boss.
What a dbag. He could have just told his Coaches that he wanted out to compete for a SP role elsewhere. Now, he's killed most of what value he had by his public display. Deal the tool for Stan Papi and be done with it.
He's like Manny, except not worth the hassle. I don't think they are going to dump him yet, with Doubront out of shape, and no one in AAA really ready until June they don't want to get rid of one of their 2 SP depth guys.
I don't think he had much trade value after last year. Maybe an NL team would have been interested in him as a 5th starter.
I'm with Lav, they can't get rid of him yet, but it's coming. Also, cut the **** with Bobby V. Any manager would get in a players face if he sabotaged a drill in front of the team. He's gone, move on.

I would not release him at this point, he has too much talent to give away for nothing. I would be looking to trade him at this point. If you wait, he could turn it around, but at the same time, he could continue to act up, lowering his value. Get rid of him now while you can still get something for him (though I am not sure what that would be at this point).
@nickcafardo
Alfredo Aceves agent Tom OConnell has arrived to Fort myers
cant wait to see all these new articles and threads about how farrel is a hero and how he deals with problems.
Atlantic City Redraft Champions
Yeah, I'd give him 1 more chance. If he fools up again then release him.
Favourite Teams:
Boston Red Sox: 27-17
Indianapolis Colts: Decent draft, no new wide reciever though.
Detroit Pistons: Looking forward to the draft and whoever the new coach will be
Ottawa Senators: Down 2 to 1 to Pittsburgh, Game 4 on Wednesday Night, Game 5 on Friday Night and Game 6 on Sunday Night (If necessary)
Beautiful:
The Farrell narrative is already being documented. His "expectations" talk on Friday when all the players arrived, getting in Aceves face (pretty diplomatically I think), etc.
I do think that this is Farrell's MO, but it's getting overplayed because of the contrasts with both Valentine and Tito.
