Jets sign CFL RB Chad Kackert

    Jake Steinberg @Steiny31

The #Jets have singed Toronto Argonauts RB and Grey Cup MVP Chad Kackert, per source. #nyj

Probably not thread worthy but I had no idea where to put it. Word is he's a Danny Woodhead type.

I like it, watched the highlight videos of him( I know stupid), but it looks like he has great body control and is a tough runner. Call me crazy, but im content with roling with powell, mcknight, and give this guy some toches.

We'll find out during TC and preseason if he's anything of note.

Never heard of him but it isn't like the Jets have any stud RBs right now. Might as well give him a shot

hey I am from Canada and have seen him play live...... I am a huge jets fan and if they are relying on him to help we are in trouble... He has been a back-up for 3 seasons before starting the last half of last season because the starting running back was released for character issues. He will be a practice player at best IMO.

Can you show me where someone believes the Jets will be relying on him? Just curious as to where that came from. It didn't come from the Jets so please keep the snide attacks to yourself or your team. Thanks.

Key word in Da Law-Son's post was IF....IF we're relying on him. He wasn't stating that as fact. He was just commenting if the Jets were to rely on him as a potential starter they could be in trouble. You need to take a breath and re-read some of these posts before lashing out.

Da Law-Son, how did he perform as the replacement starter? When people say woodhead type is that in reference to his size and stature? Or running style (quickness/shifty/good hands?)

What's with all the negativity in this thread JXD? I don't know much about this kid either but I'm willing to see what he has to offer us. You can never have enough RB's especially when they bring something unique to the offense. Kackert is a speedy guy and that's a dynamic we didn't have this past season in our running game

I would consider his skill set is similar to Woodhead's because of his ability to catch out of the backfield. A little bit faster and stronger then Woodhead tho.

    HIS 2012 season stats : Chad Kackert 9GP 100ATT 638YRDs 6.4AVG 70.9AVG/G 43LG

His stats look great but running backs have a lot more room to move on CFL fields.. A good average for any RB in the league is 6.0 per att.

If i had to compare him to a running back in the american game i would say Nebraska's running back Rex Burkehead who is entering the draft this year.

Appreciate the insight and don't mind JxD. He has some issues. I know at the time we thought we didn't have any use of Woodhead and then seeing him perform very well for the Pats, I'm sure that stung a bit so I can see why we brought him in.

Anyway, since you seem to watch the CFL is the running back avg that high due to the wider field than the american fields?
