Dwight on re-signing and his injury status

Whenever he makes appearances in Los Angeles, Lakers center Dwight Howard noticed the city hasn’t entirely embraced him. He understands why.

“I understand why they’re hesitating,” Howard said. “Because I haven’t signed a deal.”

Howard will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason and hasn’t publicly indicated if he will stay. He could re-sign for five years and $117.9 million instead of a four-year, $87.6 million deal with another team. He believes expressing his intentions would be a distraction.

“I’m here right now, so there’s no need for me to have one foot in and one foot out,” he said. “I’m here. I’m going to do everything I can to help this team win right now, and that’s the only thing that matters.”

    Almost.

Howard conceded he’s looking forward to the summer so he can fully heal his 10-month-old surgically repaired back and aggravated labrum in his right shoulder.

I’m used to training all summer and coming back in tip-top shape,” he said. “It didn’t happen this year, so I’m looking forward to having a full summer and training camp.”

So much for living in the moment.

“That’s the only part I’m looking forward to, getting my body back,” he said. “I’m nowhere near who I was in Orlando. In Orlando, I could play 40 minutes and never get tired. Here I give you about 10 minutes.”

Blah blah blah Dwight. Ask any Orlando fan...Every day which he dodges about his future in LA is another day that confirms that he will sign elsewhere.

I fail to see how it would be a distraction for him to say he plans on resigning. It's only a distraction if he says he's not.

The media needs to stop asking him and he needs to stop talking about it.

Just shut your hole and play basketball. That is all.

Here I only give you ten minutes .... sheesh... did he really say that... no wonder Kobe & Nash are at their wits end with this guy...
... You know you got a good DVR... whenever you hit pause on your remote during the action and it displays its favorite player....

Hes the right man for the job if we had a coach that can define his role and make him buy in. Dwight is the guy that should focus on dominating the paint defensively and gobbling up rebounds. Nothing more is needed out of Dwight. Unfortunately, Dwight has his mind set on being a #1 option for a team or a cornerstone for a franchise. His offensive abilities are too much of a liability for him to be a go to guy offensively. The sooner he realizes and embraces this, he can become a beloved figure in Lakers history because that will help move this team to a much more positive direction.

You're nuts. I'm looking forward to having Dwight back next year at 100% and then reading all of the Dwight ***-kissing that will be going on.

It's distracting to me that he won't just say he's gonna resign so the city would love him. I'm not getting close to Dwight as far as a fan attachment or whatever, because I'm 75% sure he's gone this summer. Oh well I suppose.

If he says he'd resign, then I think fans would care less about his injuries now and look forward to his healthy times. Since it seems, and he's indicating, he might leave in a couple months, every fan is pissed at his injuries because we want him to play well now before we lose him.

I wish I could punch him in his throat everytime he dodgers the question. It's either yes or no, saying he wants to stay will change NOTHING.

    Eagles, Lakers, Dodgers!
    Great minds think alike

Yea, I don't really understand Dwight's thought process here. However, I don't understand a lot of the things he says or does. He's kind of an idiot. It would be way less distracting if he just said he was going to resign.

I have no respect for this guy at all. I didn't have respect for him when he was in Oralndo and i definately don't now. I just can't believe we even have this guy in a Lakers uniiform if he wasn't going to sign for sure.
    This is how I bleed
