Nerlens Noel out for NCAA Season.. who becomes the top draft prospect?

Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Kentucky forward Nerlens Noel will have an MRI exam Wednesday for his injured left knee, but x-rays taken Tuesday night were negative.
Noel was hurt during the second half of Tuesday's game at Florida and had x- rays at a Gainesville hospital. The school said Wednesday morning there were no fractures and he flew back to Lexington with the team.
The freshman standout was hurt with just over eight minutes remaining in the 69-52 loss when he landed awkwardly after chasing down Florida's Mike Rosario and blocking a shot from behind. He remained on the floor for several minutes before being helped off the court by teammates.
Noel entered Tuesday's game leading the nation in blocked shots with 4.5 per contest while averaging 10.6 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 23 games. He had eight points, six boards and three blocks before departing Tuesday.

In an already weak draft, looks like one of the top prospect is gone.

He would have been the overall pick to so I guess now its Shabazz or McLemore.

He was not a lock... Even healthy I wouldn't take him, Most of you that truly watches NCAAB would know that he is VERY overrated. He cannot score, I see a DeAndre Jordan type in him. I don't know why people act like he's some type of franchise player.

Marcus Smart will be the best player in this draft

People see him as a franchise player because he is only a freshman and his number are ridiculous. He has time to improve every where. I agree he's a little overrated, but he's a stud

I didn't say he was going to be the GOAT or something. He's a shot blocking force and good rebounder and has potential be a great defensive big which is more valuable than SGs and SFs in a weak draft.Hes basically Anthony Davis without the offense and was on pace to have more blocks than Davis this season. He wasn't a lock but I think he would have been the #1pick this year.

I thought this year would be all about team need, so he wasn't a lock at #1. There is no lock.

If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

Nerlens will still be a top 3 pick. I don't think anything has changed with the injury other than some extra care paid to his rehab.

McLemore was touted as #1 by some even before Noel went down. So I think he will probably be the consensus number 1 now.

If it was upto me, Shabazz would be my choice.

there is no consesus #1 either way. none of these guys are top 10 picks in a decent class for the most part.

Maclemore is already the top draft prospect in most mocks, but Shabazz started the year there, then it was Zeller and I honestly don't ever remember Noel topping a mock. This draft essentially has a top 4-5 like '09 (Griffin, Rubio, Harden, Evans... Thabeet).
