    Off season thread

Barnett and Scott gone, our two leading tacklers. I hope this clears a way to keep Levite and Byrd. I'm sad to see Barnett gone but we need to get younger at the position, but we don't seem to have anything lined up for him other than our number 1 pick. Even still we need depth at the position. Also we frees up an ir spot in letting jones go.

Wilson lost a lot of reps to Searcy, who either they were grooming to start over him this year, or it was a sign that Wilson lost a step and they are just plain and simple going to find someone else. Barnett was a good player I thought, but he doesn't really fit Pettine's defense. Pettine said he needs attacking style players, and Barnett isn't one of them. I imagine we're going to make a push for Calvin Pace or Bart Scott, or both, and probably draft an LB at 8 overall.

I have every reason to believe that Byrd is going to be signed long term to a big deal or franchised. They cannot let him walk. Levitre should be pushed hard to re-sign as well. Those are two key parts.

Two years ago I thought Wilson and Barnett should have made the pro bowl but they sure dropped off last year. They were both serviceable though so I hope there's a solid replacement plan! The Bills are going to have to be active in free agency instead of just relying on a few top picks in the draft.

So Buffalo now has to address needs at QB, WR, LB (x2), CB, and SS. Would love to see Laron Landry at SS and I wonder what Harvin might cost in a trade. Probably a 2nd rounder but would be awesome if we could just send Mark Anderson.

Hopefully the Bills go after Percy Harvin. It would be interesting to see the Bills with 2 wide receiver threats along with CJ Spiller in the backfield. If you spread the defenses thin covering our WR's, Spiller could have a huge 1500-1800 yard season.

I feel spiller could do that with not splitting carries with Jackson or choice. I also hear Atlanta might be letting grimes go. He would be an excellent addition if we could afford him

I hope this means we can re-sign Levitre and Byrd because our list of needs is starting to pile up. We definitely need some LB help, multiple LBs. I am hoping we can address that with using our 8th pick of the draft on someone like Jarvis Jones or Ogletree. And we still need receiving help at WR and TE.

Yes, QB is a need, but I don't know if there is one in this class. Vick re-signed with Philly today too. So that leaves maybe alex smith or matt flynn? I am not so sure on that.

As far as CB is concerned, I would be down to take one in Rd 3 or try to find one via free agency.

Harvin for a 2nd rounder seems reasonable, but why not go after tavon austin in late rd 1 and trade back up into the first round, with the way the rookie contracts are, we would save money this way instead of putting up a contract for harvin I would guess.

I'd like to see them cut McGee and Brad Smith, resign Levitre and Byrd, sign Laron Landry, sign Dwayne Bowe, sign AJ Hawk (assuming he's released), and then draft Mingo in the 1st, Nassib in the 2nd, and the best available CB, TE, and LB in the remaining rounds.

You got your wish in McGee. Then also two players who will never see playing time signed. I don't think we would have anywhere near enough cap space for Landry, bowe, and hawk. Bowe will command a big deal by himself. I do like mingo with #1 pick. Kiper seems to like him.

Cutting fat is a good idea. McGee hasn't been healthy enough to warrant a spot. The only player who I still think could have been kept was Nick Barnett, but the teams management wants to go young. Now time to cut Fitzpatrick.

Dwight freeny, austin collie, Charles Woodson have been released. Woodson says he wants to go to a contender. I feel collie is too oft injured, and freeny is going to cost too much for tge likely production he would provide.

I'd pass on all three. I'd welcome Woodson's leadership but he doesn't really fit with Buffalo's youth movement and he's costly (and we're not a contender).

Seems like with Jackson being resigned we're pretty lined up to draft a QB instead of get one via free agency. Dumping Fitz just doesn't make sense since the cap advantage is less than 500k so I doubt they bring in a third mediocre QB with NFL experience and no upside. I think everyone expected the Bills to draft a QB anyway so while I'm not excited about this, I don't necessarily disagree with it either. Wouldn't of wanted Flynn, Alex Smith, or Vick anyway so best of a crap situation IMO. Better make the best of the other position needs though!

There are no decent QB's available in free agency. Flynn and Alex Smith absolutely will not be cut, because they require someone to pay a price for them. The free agent market sucks for QB. Flacco is actually the top QB, but there is an ice cubes chance in hell that he doesn't re-sign.

The resigning of Jackson is curious, he barely played last season and to be honest sucks. Levitre and Byrd are the only main resigning needs. Though I would like to see McKelvin back.
