Will Brook Lopez Ever Devlop a 3 Point Shot?

I see him taking a lot of 20 ft shots now and thats really that worst shot you can take in the NBA. I know he doesn't jump during his shot, but I think if he started taking 3s it would take his game to the next level.

Either way I dont want him taking 20 ft shots because its useless I think he should either take the 3 or start moving up

his shot is slightly worse than his rookie year. i remember during his rookie year i would watch with a wide open mouth in awe as he sunk one mid range shot after another.
i dont think he can shoot the 3, his range stops at 2-3 feet below the 3pt line.

he shouldnt play behind the 3 point line. mid range and inside is fine. the fact that he has a relatively consistent mid range J is a huge plus.

So you basically want him to become Bargnani? No thanks. If you watch Brook close enough, he spends most of his time in the lane but steps out for jumpers because most his opponents can't guard him out there. He has no business stepping out to the 3-point line. He should continue to focus on improving his defense, like he did this past offseason & that's what will take his game to the next level, not the 3.

No I dont want him to be bargnani but the 20 ft jumper isn't a good shot to take the risk/reward isn't great enough. 3 more ft and you get an extra point i dont want him taking 20 ft jumpers at all, but im saying if thats what he wants to do hes better off developing a 3 pointer. If he shot around 30% I think that would be good

Although the 3 ball would be nice to have from a 7 footer, don't think it would help out the Nets offense. The pick and pop is working great right now and both DWill and Joe are pretty good from the the 3. It would be nice if Brook continued to work on his post game so that we aren't stuck with just an outside game.

Yeah, deep twos - what's the point when you could just get in there and make a solid shot? Making deep twos is great, but it doesn't get you any additional points.

What it does is open up the drive for Brook. If he shows the ball and then blows by the defender (well as fast as he can blow by someone) it adds another dimension to his game.

This is my point hes shooting 20+ ft jumpers I dont see why him developing a 3 wouldnt help this team. Brook would become unguardable with a 3 pointer. He cant post larger Centers right now being able to make a 3 makes him way harder to guard.

I disagree that a 20 ft jumper isn't a good shot to take. It's a perfect shot for Brook to take because it put so much pressure on opposing bigs in that he is nimble enough to drive by defenders one dribble.

Moving Brook out to the 3 point line takes away that ability and also moves him further from the paint which is where he's most effective.

I understand where you're coming from as far as long 2 pointers being the least efficient shot in basketball but I don't think it applies to Lopez's circumstances or skill set. Now Marshon Brooks on the other hand...
