Do you think that pairing could have worked? Having those two man the paint with Rudy, Lowry and dd on the wings could have been something special to watch.

Developing two bigs while trying to make the playoffs is generally avoided. Also, I believe if two bigs were clogging the paint, it would leave no room for Gay/DeRozan to operate. You need a bit of a stretch four to open the floor.
Raptors count-up to 36 wins: 34 - 48 || #TankForWigginshttp://blogasvalanciunas.tumblr.comHey Cashman, fire Girardi and then yourself!
Im fine with the way it worked out. If fans had their way we'd probably have Knight/Drummond over Val/Ross. Having 2 elite C prospects is something very rare to have though, as they hold a ton of trade value.
drummond might be the better player short term, but he relies on athleticism too much, val has good foot work for a prospect C, drummond is the next dwight howard, may as jval can maybe become the next duncan lite version
I just funny how things worked out, we drafted Ross because we didn't have enough skilled wings, now e trade for Rudy and now we have to many wings and not enough bigs...

I don't like Drummond's game. He is simply just an athlete, he has no offensive skill set besides dunking and catching lobs. He has great defensive tools, but so does JV, he just needs to get stronger.
Ross is a great athlete and has a good offensive skill set. For a league that imo is weak at the SG position, I'm glad we picked him.
I would also like to remind that Drummond is out with a fractured back. I guy that big and athletic is likely going to have a lot of injury problems.
Drummond is the next Deandre Jordan. The kid has potential but he often looks lost on offence and defence. The only real things that he's good at are dunking, weakside blocks & rebounding. Besides that he has VERY little development in other areas. Not to mention he'l be an absolutely PUTRID ft shooting bigman for the rest of his career.
I'd honestly rather have Ross than Drummond. Not only is Ross in the same athletic class as Drummond, (maybe even more athletic), he has a far superior skill-set for his position along with greater bball IQ.

If I remembered correctly, Drummond was supposed to be a much higher pick than 9th. There was a reason why his stock fell so much, not sure what it was, but I trust the scouts that are doing their jobs for all their teams. I'm happy with Ross, and it'll be interesting to see how he will develop with DeRozan at the 2 and Gay at the 3. I mean, at some point if DeRo gets much stronger, I'd love to see a unit of:
C - JVal
PF - Gay
SF - DeRo
SG - Ross
PG - Lowry
closing out games. If both Ross and Val pans out like we all hoped they would, it'll be a nightmare for the opposing teams for years to come.
If Amir and Jonas can play together, why not Drummond and Jonas? Sour grapes, a bunch of you.
Amir actually has some offensive skills.
He can stretch the floor a little with that set shot from 18 feet, he has a nice little hook shot and spinning hook, has a great touch around the basket and is a better FT shooter.
Drummond has great physical tools, but he is extremely overrated.
minus the 2 put backs before the put backs the other night yeah. haha
go home raptors, you're drunk
We don't really need a stretch big, we already have a bunch of perimeter players jacking up shots. We need a big who can defend bigger players and can be effective without the basketball. Drummond can defend bigger players without fouling and is agile enough to guard PFs. He also has great touch around the basket and is a phenomenal offensive rebounder. The only thing he's missing is offensive polish but he's a rookie FFS. He can definitely play with Jonas.
I'm not even a fan of Drummond, I was against taking him during the draft but during the season, he has definitely shown a lot more of his game in the NBA than he did in college.
If people are comparing him to DJ, they obviously haven't seen a lot of him. Drummond is a lot more agile and more mobile than DeAndre Jordan. His dribbling is also quite good for a big man and will certainly open up the finesse game for him which will make up for his lack of shooting skills imo.
With the addition of Gay and the development of DD, I don't even know where Ross fits in to be honest. At least with AD it would have a lot more clear.
