I believe the Rangers are confident Fasth and Lindberg will be on this team when their seasons are over. To me that means that Boyle is certainly gone. Thank God. I suspect they will deal Boyle for a veteran, physical defenseman.

You're right! I would have wished we had re-signed Prust last yr. and gotten rid of Boyle then. I know it probably won't hold up but have you seen what Prust and Mitchell are doing( I won't go into Anisimov,Dubinsky, and Erixon because we had to give them up for Nash---we chose not to give Prust and Mitchell contracts).
Getting back to Miller, he's well coached, fast, big and strong--- love the idea of Krieder-Miller-Gaborik once both Kreider and Miller have more experience.
Boyle should have been traded the year he got his 20 goals. Having said that I don't think he's really useless, he's been in a funk since he got concussed last year, and it's far too early to say that Miller can play in the NHL every night. It was just the Islanders he played against and while they are a decent team now they aren't especially bruising. I'd want to see him play against Boston next Tuesday to see how he makes out before I'd start trading guys away. Also, having Boyle here as atleast a depth forward doesn't hurt, I know he's making more money than that but I really think that he's more useful than Asham in a playoff series.
Miller as of now doesnt fill the pking need that Boyle does. We have not been great in that area that is one of the reasons why we acquired Powe. Lets also not get carried away after 2 games with Miller, i like him a lot and i hope he continues to play well but he is afterall only 19 and again its only 2 games.
Personally i would like to see Boyle on the 4th line and perfectly rested for all our pking needs. I think him on a line with Asham and Mash would be pretty decent, if and when Mash gets the call up. I was not a fan of the Halpern signing and so far he really hasnt brought anything. Now we have too many forwards and someone sits on a nigtly basis. I also wouldnt mind a 2 for 1 swap where we get a better 3rd or 4th liner. We have the depth now with Ferriero being sent down.
Ya, in hindsight we should have kept Mitchell and not signed Halpern but when we signed Halpern I thought he'd be better than he's been, he was effective in MTL and Wash. I don't actually mind having too many forwards as it keeps everyone on their toes, I think benching Boyle was the eye opener that even if you are a long time player on the team you can still be benched. Apparently Torts was about to bench Gaborik against the Isles too so nobody is safe and having extra players makes that more so.
Boyle will not bring us back anything of value.

You're right, Callahan is #2, Boyle is #11 and Halpern is #26 among SH TOI/G., with Prust at #28(Just had to throw that in). So Boyle and Halpern will definitely be on the 4th line no matter what. Powe will definitely be there also, as he was 2nd in the league last year in blocked shots( his SH TOI/G will go up). That being said Boyle/Powe/Halpern is our 4th line. But with that Boyle would also be counted on to fight as we wouldn't have Asham in the line-up.
I'm still waiting to hear if JT will stay longer than 6 games.
I like Miller but let's not freak out, it's been 2 games.
Although i have to be honest Boyle has not been the same player since taking that hit from Neil last year.
I wouldn't say Boyle has no trade value. People forget the players we got back for Kotalik, Higgins, Gomez and Rupp. All who also had no value to a lot of Rangers fans.
Boyle definitely has some value in my opinion. His size/skating/hands combination is pretty good. He is a 3rd liner that can kill penalties and chip in with around 12-20 goals in a season. I know he got only 11 last season but he was in a pretty good slump and snake bit at times.
Boyle def has value. He has the size teams love and he can pitch in a few goals here and there. I am not as high as many fans because frankly i see Boyle as a 4th line center that kills penalties and can chip in 10ish goals. In a full season him getting 8-13 goals would not surprise me in the slightest. I dont think he is good enough to be on the 3rd line regulary for a cup team but i feel he is a really good 4th line center. If we have aspirations of winning the cup i just dont see him on the 3rd line doing that.
With the young kids that we have and their low salaries i think its an opportunity to have a few guys on the 4th line making a bit more then they should for a year or two. The problem that we have had is our 2nd and 3rd lines have not been doing what they should. I think the moves we have made have given them a bit more balance but i still feel we have too many guys that are just not getting the job done. i would love a 2 for 1 trade where we get a better player.
One idea that is being throw around is Babcock for Boyle. Calgary needs a center and the Rangers need a big shot from the point.
I know the team is going well now, but I fully expect an angry Boyle to be back in the lineup against the Bruins. Most would not mess with the team's makeup right now, but we need a big guy against the Bruins and a big guy that's got something to prove. Right now Boyle sits because Halprin is the better at both face offs and penalty killing.
Miller has shown enough posie to stay with the Rangers but that doesn't nessarily mean they will keep him. Nobody knows at the moment, we don't even know if Miller stays and Krieder goes down.
I do have to disagree with most on Ashem though. He is much more than just a thug. He's a much better skater than I thought and has generated many scoring chances while playing on both the 3rd and 4th lines. I see him fitting better on the 4th line with Powe and Halprin and that will likely be the case going forward.
