    Vargas clone.

We basically just got an aged Jason Vargas and Morales for the actual Jason Vargas, in my opinion.

He's coming off the best (or second best) season of his career so this is a pretty good signing.

got to have good D behind saunders tho.... ibanez/morse better not be in LF when he is on the mound... id prefer they not be in the field period when he is in.

Morse/Guti/Saunders would be fine for me so long as Morse hits some homers.

i think vargas is quite a bit better, but we save $ and get a legit MOTO bat, not bad... wont really know tho til during the season, vargas is hard to predict, he could fall of a cliff or be an all star, i think saunders does right around what millwood did.... even in a worser case scenario we do fine in this move, better case its stellar.

    Saunders career: 4.15 ERA, 4.56 FIP, 4.48 xFIP, 12 WAR, 1.5 WAR/season, 1161.1 IP, 145 IP/season
    2012: 4.07 ERA, 4.08 FIP , 4.25 xFIP, 2.5 WAR, 174 IP

    Vargas career: 4.35 ERA, 4.48 FIP, 4.69 xFIP, 5.9 WAR, ~ 1 WAR/season, 829.2 IP, 138.1 IP/season
    2012: 3.85 ERA, 4.69 FIP, 4.45 xFIP, 0.8 WAR, 217 IP

Its pretty equal, with a small edge to Saunders. And Vargas is not really an All Star either..
You have no idea how excited I am right now.

Who cares? We're getting someone similar to Vargas and for much cheaper.
