    Ed Davis' Future With Us

Many people say that Ed Davis is a great young talent, and whenever his name is brought up, the word "promising" is used a lot. Grizz fans, what do you see him becoming to the Grizz this season, and beyond?
I ask this because I've heard so many different NON Grizz Fan's opinions. Some say a great defensive backup PF and C, and some even have said that he will be a Zach Randolph replacement!
    Thoughts?

Oh and its great to be back and posting on PSD again, even though I have to use this new account and not my old original one.

I expect to see Davis as a primary big off the bench this season. If he plays real well, he can cut down on Marc and Z-Bo's mins. Next season i think will be huge for him. If he puts in work all summer and comes back very good, i see him as the starting pf. Its no coincidence that he and Z-Bo's contract expires the same year.

Best case scenario: Ed Davis becomes a starting pf for us in a few years, Z-BO resigns for less money (MLE hopefully) just to stay and retire in Memphis.

Worst case scenario: Ed doesnt live up to the hype and he just remains a backup for us until he A) Walks away in FA or B) Resigns for a friendly contract.

Either way I am looking forward to see what he can do tonight given some practice time

all of these will ONLY materialize if he gets to play. I'm honestly becoming to hate Hollins. :-(
He should try to give these young dudes minutes to boast there confidence. Give mins to Wroten, Ed & Daye.
I hate to say, Hollins maybe protecting only himself to win games in order to get a big payday.
With all honesty, we should slowly transition this team geared toward the future by developing guys from within. I hope coach and the management would pattern the handling of this team to the spurs/popovich. i have very high respect Popovic on how he handles the team. I love the way he develop Splitter, Leonard, Blair,Green, George Hill before. again Ed Davis is very promising and I hope he gets to play and will develop since we know for the fact Zbo is not getting any younger.

Davis only played 9 minutes tonight. Anyone know why he had so few chances out there? Bayless with 29 though!

Hey guys, Austin Daye isn't very good...at all...Now I'm cool with trading him or Leuer...I wonder what the front office has up their sleeves though..? I'm sure they didn't envision Ed Davis only getting 8 minutes a game...I got a feeling they make another trade before the deadline that includes either one of our bigs, or one of ur lower paid bench players(Leuer, Daye)

Hollins wont be here long if he plays Ed under 10mins a game. You dont trade your "STAR" player for a player you dont play. Davis was the target in the deal so he has to get tick plain and simple.

The young group didn't do too bad tonight in that 3rd-4th quarter run.

    Bayless
    Daye

I feel really bad for ed. In Toronto, he spent two years trying to get his chance, trying to get himself unglued from the bench. The first time it happens, he starts to produce, earns his spot in the starting lineup, and he gets traded to be put behind 2 all stars. He needs time on the floor to develop, and I just don't see that happening behind marc and z-bo. I really didn't see why you guys wanted to target him either, you have plenty of depth up front.

You have nothing to worry about. This guy's work ethic is amazing. It's really a shame to see him buried on the bench once again. He was easily one of, if not the most under utilized Raptor in history.

I'm hoping that after the allstar break we see a increase in Ed's mins. I love what i have seen from him so far, he adds something the grizz havent had since stromile swift, shot blocking and athleticism. I would like to see Hollins and the grizz coaches work with him over the break and get him a good 15 mins a game down the stretch. Hopefully he gives them enough confidence so that when the playoffs come he is a key contributor

Hey guys I've watched Ed for most of his career (hated UNC so only caught some of his college games)... If he can work his way into your rotation he'll do great he benefitted from a lot of extra playing time this year with injuries in Toronto... He has worked his *** off all year, he completely reshaped his jump shot form and has become reliable from 15-17 feet out, has ridiculously quick hops (doesnt neccessarily have the largest verticle but he gets to his maximum height quicker than most in the league)... biggest thing you have to worry about is getting him bulked up he is definitely got the potential to be a starter in the league

    Good Luck with him

Good to know he's a hard worker. Usually those type of players fit in extremely well here in Memphis. Grit N Grind.

For some reason I think Ed Davis could be the topic of conversation when the Griz front office talks about trading again before the deadline. We still need another SG and another Center. It'd be nice to be able to trade Leuer instead of Davis to get these pieces, but I have a feeling one of them will be traded before too long. We simply don't need 4 PF's on one roster. Especially when Zbo and Darrell Arthur are 2 of them.

How about trading for Wilson Chandler and Tim Mozgov? kill 2 birds with one stone....I could see this working because they have a logjam at both the Center position and at the SG/SF position. They also lack any kind of PF. Literally, the only guy listed as a PF on their roster is averaging 7 minutes a game this season.

If we could get away with trading Leuer, a 2nd round pick, and the trade exception for these 2 guys I would punch the first person I saw in the face...out of joy of coarse.

Wilson Chandler would be a phenomenal piece to add. I've always liked his game.
