    KVB Cut

    Yesssss

he Detroit Lions have begun the process of dumping salary and headaches. And Kyle Vanden Bosch will be among the next to go.

The 34-year-old defensive end has been informed he'll be released, according to a person informed of the impending roster move. The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the move was not official. The person was unsure when the move will be completed.

He basically provided us negative value this year, so makes sense. Hopefully he comes back as a defensive assistant of some kind.

Vanden Bosch's release won't be a stunner. He has three seasons remaining on his current contract but only because he restructured last season. His base salary for 2013 is slated to be $5 million. He has two more years at $8 million in base salary.

Vanden Bosch had 16 sacks in the past three seasons with the Lions after following head coach Jim Schwartz from the Tennessee Titans.

On Monday, the Lions cut wide receiver Titus Young, who was a distraction for the team last season. The Detroit Free Press has reported guard Stephen Peterman will be cut today.

The Lions will try to find a way to re-sign their other starting defensive end, Cliff Avril, who is headed for free agency next month and is expected to receive a sizable contract.

Please Raiola be next! I would not be surprised if KVB is hired as a D-line coach or even brought back on a league minimum contract

Great day so far. Cutting Dom would be the icing on the cake!

so far we've cut Peterman, Young, and KVB..there's thoughts out there that Raiola, Best, and Burleson could be the next casualties, and restructuring Stafford is a high priority. ESPN's Kevin Seifert also seems to think that the signing of Nagy from Dallas last season could equivalate to him starting at C or RG for us next season. So what do you think Mayhew has in store for the rest of the line and draft? I was kind of hoping now to see them slide back in the draft, draft Warmack, Trufant/Rhodes, Rambo/Reid, Barner, and Da'Rick Rodgers. Possibly even Wing and Sturgis instead of re-signing Harris and Hanson. And try like hell to make a play on Michael Johnson in FA

Really hope he retires and comes back as a coach.

Agreed. His leadership and locker room presence will definitely be missed.
