Considering February 5th is the most important day on the North American calender the Leafs better pull one out tonight.

I have a feeling Ovi and the caps will light up the Leafs tonight.

The fact that Nazem Kadri has 8 points on the third line is pretty amazing. Good for him for proving the doubters wrong (which included his coach for a very long time). I'm curious what his price will be for an extension

Matt Duschene signed for $3.5...if Kadri keeps up his offensive numbers he will be asking in that neighborhood...I'd rather see him get $1.75 - $2.25 per year over 3 years.

    It depends on term.

I think Kadri is worth a 2 years 5 million dollar deal for sure if he's willing to take that.

I know i keep harping on this by we should try Kadri on the first line with Kessel. If Kessel keeps struggling i would try something like this.

    JVR - Grabo - Kule
    Frattin - Kadri - Kessel
    Mac - Bozak - Komarov
    Steckel - McClement - Brown

Seeing the chemistry Frattin and Kadri have it'd be hard to split them and i think they could work just as well with Kessel (maybe even more). Frattin goes hard to the net and Kadri's vision has impressed all of us i'm sure.

I don't think Grabo is the answer to Kessels woes tbh, the guy just isn't the centre kessel needs.

As for Kadri's contract i definitley think he will hit the $2 million mark and good for him, he deserves it. I especially like how early this season Eakins got on him about his fitness level and his defensive play, the guy responded and is now reaping the rewards. Bozak could be looking for $$$ as well, i would like it if he stayed with us on the third line long-term but i can't stomach another season with him. I hope he ultimately proves me wrong like Kadri has to a lot of us, we could really use that.

Tonight is the night Kessel breaks the slump...it has to be...he needs to start going to the net more and playing in the dirty areas...no more shooting from the perimeter

Need some major line up changes this game IMO. And I think we can all agree on these.

    1) Komisarek is an upgrade to Fraser so put him in (assuming his eye is fine by now)
    2) Put Kessel with Grabovski, who is a left handed shot, and JVR
    3) Put Kadri up on second line with Frattin and Kulemin
    4) Put a more defensive aware 3rd line out of MacArthur - Bozak - Komarov/McClement
    5) Move Kostka OFF the top PP unit and replace him with Franson/Liles

These have to happen if we want to score more goals IMO.
