my guess is nakajima moves to 2B and Sizemore/Weeks fight for the utility spot.
Sad to see Chris Carter go though

This is confusing...
Of course, and he must have more value than Lowrie did but for an organization with very limited depth, I dont think they traded him at the right time.
Some contending team with an injured shortstop would love to take a guy like Lowrie off the basement dwelling Astros during the season.
..
as an astros fan...this is a good move. great move. luhnow hasnt lost a trade yet.
fans saying: "the astros are gonna get killed this year". yeah, youre right. but we werent going anywhere WITH lowrie, either. he'd be 32 realistically by the time were ready to contend.
this is about the long-term picture. Carter is a viable long-term DH option with jonathan singleton at first base.
great move. luhnow is the most underrated GM in the league. Kieth law just came otu and said astros now have a top 5 farm system. luhnow drafts and evaluates talent VERY well, and another #1 slot will really help.

Lowrie's always been a real intriguing player. Fernando Cabrera has good stuff.

God damnit! We traded Chris Carter?! And Peacock!? Those guys i loved
I'm beyond pissed, someone please say something that will make me feel better
Nakajima stays at SS. Lowrie plays all three for them....rotational...in and out at SS, 2B, & 3B
Good trade, so Nakajima is going to play 2nd base it seems.
Brett Wallace to 3B,Matt D. to 2B and Jose Altuve to SS.
Beane doesn't have to lose the trade. Both sides can win....
Does Beane win this trade? If Lowrie stays healthy, sure. He can put up some solid numbers while staying cheap.
But the Astros moved a piece that did not fit long term, for pieces that will potentially fit long term.
Its a good trade for both teams, IMO. Astros with Lowrie, healthy for an entire year are tops 70 win team. tops. So whats the point of holding on to him if you can get value that will help you when you're ready to contend?
