    Rupp to Wild

    http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=6...d=nhl:topheads

The Wild sent forward Darroll Powe and minor-league forward Nick Palmieri to the Rangers in exchange for forward Michael Rupp.

Excited for the Wild to have Rupp. I wish we didnt have to throw Palmieri in, I like him, but I guess he didnt show up to the AHL team after being cut from the NHL team, so I think some bridges were burned and he had to go. Wild have been getting pushed around most of the season, as they are a pretty small team...in three days, they have called up 6'2 210 pound Charlie Coyle, and traded for 6'5" 240 pounder. Hopefully the Wild dont get pushed around as much anymore.

Salary dump, I really don't know what Minnesota is thinking here. Rupp hasn't been the guy that helped NJ win a cup, his style of play has caught up with him and at 33 years old the best years are long behind him.

I think what the Wild are thinking is that they have been getting pushed around all season, and they need some size. They got it for a guy who never played for them, and another guy who refused to go to the AHL team for them.

Now, Fletcher just needs to trade Seto and Clutterbuck to the Pens so I can stop hearing about it. The bromance to those 2 from the Pens fans is rather funny and astounding. Also, with this deal, this gives them an extra contract that they can take in.

PurpleJesus just said that the Wild want size for their bottom 6, so would Tangradi be of interest? He's huge and is a young 3rd/4th line energy guy. Hell, for Seto and Clutterbuck, I'd throw at least Niskanen and a D prospect along with Tangradi for them.

Pens haven't had a guy like Clutterbuck since they had scary Gary. He was my favorite Penguin of all time. This video says why:

I want him more than Seto.

Ya maybe. He wouldn't be my first choice as an enforcer though. Hear he's a good team guy so maybe that's part of it too. It works out for us though, he wasn't doing anything for us, slow, losing fights and taking 1.5 in cap. I was someone that thought getting him was gonna be a great move for the Rangers but he's been a flop with the exception of the Winter Classic and the fight to start the Devils game last year. haha.

Rupp has battled a bad knee. I think that took away from his game a bit. This may just be Slats clearing some cap room for our eventual Crosby or AO trade

This is a pretty damn meaningless deal Rupp is a fairly meaningless 4th liner (About average in his career maybe a bit beter) who is off to a pretty bad start this season and is 33.

I wouldn't want to give him 1.5 million for the next two seasons but the Rangers have to take on Daroll Powe who likely play a 4th line role as well (making slightly over a million for the next two years). The fact that the Wild paid a 3rd rounder for him in 2011 amuses me as well. The final piece is a young player who at this point in time is a failed prospect.

LOL so you are saying we are on the right path for our eventual Crosby or AO trade.

meh, taking back 1.5 in cap, but sending 1 mill out, so really just takinon $500K. Powe was playing very sparingly for us, and was about as expendable as it gets. We lose literally nothing with Powe. I liked Palmieri though, but I think some bridges were burned between him and the Wild organization. He had some holdout issue during the offseason, where he wanted some guarantee in his contract that he would be on the NHL roster, and the FO didnt give it to him. Then when he was cut from the NHL roster and sent to AHL, he refused to show up for a couple days.
