    OvenChicken a.k.a. Ovechkin

So there are a lot of rumors out there that the Capitals are listening to offers for Alex Ovechkin. Currently the Jets are the top trade partner. I'm wondering if you guys would like Ovechkin, how much you think it would take to get him, and who you would part with.

To me I would be all in for Ovenchicken. Giroux and him would Kill the NHL together. Deadlier then Malkin and Crosby on the Penguins for the simple fact we will be playing together. Sure his numbers has been declining, but so has the Capitals in general. I think Ovechkin would kill in Lavi's system too.

I think he is going to cost you an arm and a leg. To me, I think your going to have to trade Voracek, Couturier, and likely the next 3 first round picks, but I think it would be well worth it.

    Hartnell-Schenn-Briere

Absolutely not. The Flyers are not trading Couturier and I do not want Ovechkin and his ridiculous salary.
Just trade away Briere, Timonen and any other player that you don't want to build around and get a high pick. Sometimes sucking is worth it.

    Last 4 Stanley Cup Champions:
2012 - LA KINGS - #2 overall pick Drew Doughty
2011 - BOS BRUINS - #2 overall pick Tyler Seguin (less to do with it but still a slight contributor - great trade)
2010 - CHI BLACKHAWKS - #1 overall pick Patrick Kane, #3 overall pick Jonathan Toews
2009 - PIT PENGUINS - #2 overall pick Jordan Staal, #1 overall pick Sidney Crosby, #2 overall pick Evgeni Malkin, 1st overall pick Marc-Andre Fleury

I'd rather a top 5 draft pick than Ovechkin on this team.

i'm still trading both Schenns before Couturier ...

while we are on our favorite subject of Couturier ... the game against the Caps, where he was the cause of the horrendous breakaway goal, i think was his 2nd best game played this year ... maybe the pitt game was better, but he actually played well overall in the Caps game

his game is coming around and being moved to the 2nd line is a tough transition ... he was only getting like 14min a night (last year) ... now he is getting 18-19min a night ... give him 5 more games before you think his value is gone ... he is our most coveted player still

    onto Ovi ..

if Pronger were still playing - big YES to Ovi ... but without that unquestionable no-nonsense, 'i've been in the league longer than sand'-type leader (Giroux is unquestionable - but Ovi is older and was a C and is a bigger name than Giroux, so it could cause problems) ... then the answer is 'No'

Ovi would thrive in Lavy's no defense system

Not only that but he'll be paid big money. The Flyers need to re-sign Giroux, Couturier, Brayden, possibly Timonen, get a #1 d man and not to mention other extensions are kicking in (Hartnell, Voracek, Simmonds). Plus a back up goalie.

Agreed !!!....Ovi is not a team player all about himself and cost is to high .Only a half season let the chips fall where they may hopfully a high pick and build next season...

With the amount of players they'd have to trade, his large cap hit, and his declining play I'd have to say no thanks

Honestly, I'm hoping more for Iginla. He won't cost our farm and probably would thrive here and be helpful to our young players' development. Hell, he would help Giroux Develop further. I am hoping that a move for Iginla would be made sooner rather than later as we need the help now. Yes we have the cap room to get him and at the worst he becomes a rental player. I think that we could get him for a couple of picks/prospects/combo...

I think I was the ONLY person on this board that wanted us to keep Zherdev. And I still wish we could get him back. He may have been a one-way player, but he knew what to do when the puck was on his stick in the offensive zone. The guys we have on the ice right now don't have the first clue. They're looking to do anything with it BUT put it on net.

Ovi is a one-way player. Fine. But his shot is second to (maybe) Stamkos. We need goals; Ovie can make those happen. We need a top-line player that knows what it takes to put the puck in the back of the net; Ovie does that, too. I'd rather have Ryan, but that's going to be expensive. I'd rather have Perry, but I don't think ANA is going to part with him this season. Iginla is an interesting idea, but I have the sneaking suspicion that he's going to want to retire a Flame, not leave his team & country to come to Philadelphia and be second fiddle to Giroux.

Oveckin is not a 2way player, and would not fit in Lavy's system at all. Rather not waste picks on an Igilna trade either.

Either ride out the season or acquire a long term solution at scoring winger, even if it means losing B Schenn

I don't think they'll move Brayden as long as Luke is around -- just saying. Laughton is probably expendable, as is Read. But beyond that, I'd say Homer is more or less committed to most of the young players on the team.

Not to mention: he can't really move Simmonds or Voracek after both signed long-term deals to remain on the team. He's already used his allotted "these guys I signed to career deals and then sent them to the four corners of hell" trades when he sent Richards and Carter packing. Giroux is going to want another deal, as will Read and Meszaros. We need to project some sort of organizational stability. Turning over key franchise pieces like Taylor Swift turns over boys is not helpful in that regard.
