anyway if the lyon deal gets done it would add another quality reliever to the mix.
Brandon Lyon's stats look pretty decent. Why was he out there unsigned so long????
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that we may have a decent bullpen this year. There are a lot of guys that have been good in the past and could come back and some interest possibilities in the minors.
This could be the best bullpen we've had in a few years. Not saying much, I know. But still, it may not be the weak link we all expect it to be.

Assuming we sign Brandon Lyon, it appears we're looking more and more like an expansion team.......
Today's terminology would describe all these signings as low risk/high reward. However, signing decrepit veterans seeking one last chance to make some bank and perhaps for some immortality combined with a GM who is desperate to fielding a respectable roster and add a bunch of AAAA guys and some rookies and it doesn't look promising at all. Lets be honest with ourselves, we just don't have the major league quality depth at this point in time.
The only saving grace is the hitting of David Wright, Ike Davis and Daniel Murphy. But, if any of them go down for any length of time, then what.....
It won't look pretty. It'll be outright embarrassing......
Man, we've been to the playoffs just once (2006) since the 2000 World Series.
Since the 2007 season we are 477- 495......
That's my two cents.

I like Sandy's thought process here. Fixing the bullpen would be huge. The last time the Mets were a great team in 2006, a very big part of that was the dominant bullpen. The amount of games blown by the pen last year was unacceptable, and if you can take some of those wins back the Mets can still be decent this year.
I wonder why Brandon Lyon has been traded so many times and why is he still unsigned.
Anyone know the inside skinny?
