Should mouth guards be an NBA requirement ?

Why are they not? I feel like they should be mandatory.
Just an out of no-where thought.

I'll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it's sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning shot.

Some guys value the ability to talk smack over their teeth.

it would be a really smart idea cause you never know who's gonna get elbowed in the face, and honestly it couldnt hurt its not like the league is instilling helmets its only a mouth guard

It'd be hard to communicate on defence, transition and wherever else there needs to be verbal communication involved

I don't think its so much about getting your teeth fixed as is the fact that it can be a danger to others. You are asking for an infection if human teeth puncture your skin (if your elbow hits someones teeth, etc...). It doesn't happen very often in the NBA at all, so I highly doubt they will make mouth guards mandatory.

Why, so we can see players sticking out of their mouths chewing on it? I say NO!
