    Broken Xbox

I got the red ring and my warranty is up. It costs 120$ to get fixed. I had it since 2007 and I am not sure how much longer it will last even after I get it fixed. If I buy a new Xbox will it be possible to transfer the memory from my current hard drive to the new Xbox?

Yes. You need to get a transfer cable tho. They run about $20 but you could use it and then return it

Do you think I would be better off buying a new Xbox or just getting my other one fixed?

I'd say get a new one.. It's like 250 now I think. Also the newer ones were built alot better with better cooling.. Nice to see your xbox last almost 6 years!

If your narrowing it down to repairing it or buying a new one, I'd just buy a new one especially if your old one is a pre-slim.

If you want another xbox to run you a long time, just buy a new one. However, you can try fixing it yourself. I fixed so many xbox w/ rrod before and I will tell you that it won't last very long. The longest an xbox lasted that I fixed on my own is probably just a little over a year. I did tons of money buying cheap broken xbox and selling them after I fixed them though . Another option is to just save your money for the next gen.

I was able to keep a red-ring of death xbox working for a while using the towel-trick. Only would work for a few days at a time before I had to do it again, but I was able to save the cash for a while.
    Stoops....there it is!
    Fix it. Fix it good.
