That'/s rubbish. That's like saying if I pitch at 12 year olds instead of 18 year olds i'm a better pitcher.

    It's not rubbish..

Range is an issue with Duda which affected his defensive value, it's common sense that if he has less ground to cover he'll get to more fly balls.

Range and everything is a factor with Duda, he can't read the ball, he can't throw and he can't run. Moving him doesn't make him a better defender at all. He's still the same quality of defender in a different position, you're mot improving him, he'll still get to many less balls than an avg defender will.

Putting a guy in a easier position doesn't improve him. He's as bad there as he would be elsewhere.

Maybe .. but by a perilously slim margin. The guy has NO tracking ability. He has no idea where a hit ball is going. That's pretty fatal at any outfield position. Duda would have to hit a TON, drive in a TON of runs to compensate for his woes in the field. But those woes sure seemed to eat at him so much last year it greatly affected his performance at the plate.

If he continues to be embarrassed by his awful fielding, he'll never hit. He has to somehow come into the season with a head more like Adam Dunn's - who has never seemed to give a rat's *** how he fielded.

Dunn and Duda should never be mentioned in the same breath. Similar type of player, but in terms of talent and production, not even close.

Dunn had 7 straight years, where his HR was at least 38 and he knocked in at least 90 runs. Most of those years were 40+/100+ years.

    Hundley had no tracking ability.

    Duda is just slow.

Duda has no ability in the field at all. You may as well have a soda machine out there.

You never read or hear a scout saying, "Hey this guy can be a 100 rbi guy". So why use it as a barometer on why a player is good. It's probably one of the crudest ways to describe someone one is clutch.

Murphy couldn't catch the ball when he was out there, Duda can catch the ball. The problem is he has to get there.
