Oh come on. Hitting .300ish and driving in 100 runs even just once in the MLB is damn good and damned hard. If it weren't, I'm sure Mets history would be just chock full of such examples. 'Special' as you well know, is when someone does it often. Also agree with Jomota about Frenchy.

More information is not a bad thing.

Traditional baseball stats are very black and white, they don't account for all the variables and idiosyncrasies this game has.

We are just pass the days where BA, home runs, fielding %, and specifically RBIS tell you everything about a positional player and same with ERA and especially wins telling you everything about a pitcher.

He was though and Duda was horrible last year, that is how bad Frenchy was last year and hence he would not be the Mets best outfielder right now because he would be worst than Duda, as for his career he has had one, that is most than most people have done who have tried to make it.

Didn't say he was all that good last year. And saying Duda was better is laughable. Francoeur is on the decline and has had a decent if unspectacular career. He also could bounce back a little. Duda was awful, unreliable and a bad fielder. He has nothing to bounce back from.

But he's our Duda. We got him for now.

Frenchy is a bad player.

Duda might be bad as well but he has power potential, can get on base, and could have a decent OPS if he recovers offensively.

Defensively they are both terrible although obviously Duda is worse and they are both negative baserunners as well.

What hurts Francouer is he doesn't walk (5.6% and a .287 OBP is pathetic) and he was equally as bad as Duda at the plate last year.

Interesting that you would quote characters from one of the most confusing novels ever written. The last forty pages of Ulysses was written as one sentence with no punctuate or paragraphs. I've read it several times and still don't understand it. It was the UZR of literature.

Every baseball team in MLB use these stats to evaluate players so it's not just "digit" heads (as you called it) who sit in their rooms and calculate useless algorithms.

- You underline the obvious .. who'd a thunk that men on base and especially RISP are advantageous to run producing hitters. Although you do ignore that lard ***** clogging the basepaths (even if they are RISP) also have an effect on one's ability to amass RBIs.

For pitchers, all the traditional stats except wins and losses, with FIP, xFIP, SIERA, WPA, GB%, and SwStr%.
