Works for me. He sure wasn't going to re-sign with TOR!

Decent depth signing for this team. Overbay can be a solid bench player for the team.
    Favourite Teams:

Boston Red Sox: 5-8, games this week vs. Chicago White Sox (3), Baltimore (3)
Indianapolis Colts: 11-5, 2013 AFC South Champs, great season guys.
Looking for new NBA team to cheer for
Ottawa Senators: 37-31-14, season over, good effort guys.

I'm not convinced that he can even hit righties anymore, but it's a minor deal so decent depth signing.

If he can get it together a bit, he could hit a good amount of 2B's in Fenway and some HR's too. This could make dealing Salty more likely, or more likely to be a C only.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

I was wondering about this signing. Why not have Salty play some 1B when Napoli had the day off and when Ross is catching. Unless, what you say is true and Salty won't be on the team much longer.

Lets pray. My number one goal for the team for the rest of the offseason is ditching Salty.

Before the Overbay deal was completed, the Red Sox had a National League team offer to get them Chris Coghlan from the Marlins in a three-way trade.

Overbay is a much better glove than Salty at 1B, and arguably a better OBP bat. Salty has a lot more power.

I think more shoes will drop relative to 1B, these two are not enough (nor is Gomez) when the starting 1B is Napoli at this stage. That is assuming the Sox want to win, assuming they don't care, this maybe what we get. Mmmmmmmmmmmm..... good.
