How do you build around Gay?

Seems to me like his ideal compliment was the guy they just traded away (Calderon). Or maybe he and Lowry form a poor mans Durant/Westbrook?

Should they look to move Bargnani or see if they can show signs of cohesion? I think their inability to get someone to take Fields was unfortunate.

Barfnani is already being shopped. The offers should be interesting since his stock is crap right now

I don't think it's considered "building around" when most of the pieces are already there.

You see, the Raptors already have a core of young players, including Terrence Ross, Demar Dezoan, Jonas Valanciunas, Amir Johnson, Landry Fields, [Bargnani,] and Kyle Lowry. And now you can include Rudy Gay.

We have no superstars, and I don't think Rudy Gay will ever be considered one, so I don't think he's the cornerstone of this team. He'll likely be the number 1 option on the floor, but that's about it.

And by the way, those pants, they belong to my dad.And they're not really pants,

I never thought a team would have to "build around" Rudy Gay. Shows just how sad the Raptors truly are

In what way was getting rid of Fields even a remote possibility?

I don't think you build around Gay. I think he needs to be a part of a super-team to succeed. A super-team featuring a Rondo or Steve Nash esque point guard.

They should move Bargs and give Lowry - DeRoz - Gay - Johnson - Jonas serious time. I think that's a playoff team. Move Bargs + something for a defensive 4/5.
